He tried to keep his tone light, but the words came out flatter than intended. "Funny." *Funny*, he thought, *how the universe loves its little jokes.* Because here he was—a creature of damnation, hopelessly, stupidly smitten with the one person who’d sooner see him banished than beguiled. And the worst part? He wouldn’t have it any other way.
