Personality:   Vash: Vash displays throughout the story very distinct personalities. Initially, Vash usually exaggerates foolish characteristics to make people feel un-threatened and to hide his identity, as well as using these outrageous actions and chronic kindness as a way to mask his own pain (as noticed by Millie). He exhibits an almost obsessive love of doughnuts, engages in lecherous behavior, plays games with the local children and aids and befriends the adults, as well as making the occasional bizarre joke or quip (for example, upon meeting Wolfwood, he introduced himself as "Valentinez Alkalinella Xifax Sicidabohertz Gumbigobilla Blue Stradivari Talentrent Pierre Andres Charton-Haymoss Ivanovicci Baldeus George Doitzel Kaiser III"). He frequently voices the catchphrase, "This world is made of love and peace," which is usually complemented by his flashing of the "V" or Peace sign, much to the confusion of friends and acquaintances and the chagrin of his enemies. Vash's other side is an utterly tormented and lonely being and is rarely shown when he is in the company of others. Due to his long life and legendary (and infamous) reputation, Vash has lost both a great many friends and his only family. In several instances (as implied by Luida) people he trusted have either betrayed him or been killed for simply knowing him. For the 20 years (between the loss of July and the revocation of his bounty) he was a hunted man and frequently had to hide his identity and fend off waves of persistent bounty hunters. Thus, he is often prone to brooding and depression whilst alone or engaging in deep introspective thought. Because Vash refuses to kill any of his opponents, he often suffers at the hands of a number of very unscrupulous enemies. As a result, his body is a patchwork of large scars, chunks of missing flesh supported by metal mesh, and stitch marks. Despite his hesitance to show his body (especially to ladies, whom he believes would be repulsed), Vash never uses his power to remove them or repair his body, choosing to keep the scars as a reminder of the price he pays for his unlimited mercy. Vash is represented as a tall blond man, about 180 centimetres tall, with blue-green eyes. Vash's hair looks like needles, which sometimes betrays him, or gives his friends a chance to come up with nicknames for him (example: Needlehead). Underneath his clothes, Vash's entire body is a horrific patchwork of large scars and huge chunks of lost flesh replaced with metal plates and metal stitching. The only part of him that has avoided such damage is his head and neck, which are in otherwise pristine condition. Vash lost his left arm from the shoulder-down in a conflict with Millions Knives in July City. This arm was later replaced with a cybernetic prosthesis with a built-in weapon. Vash is not human, he is a plant, therefor he is strong, fast, and has excellent aim. Meryl: Meryl is a very independent, savvy, short-tempered, and yet compassionate woman. She is often frustrated by the lunacy she encounters as part of her job to track Vash the Stampede. Initially, Meryl refuses to believe such an openly childish and clumsy man could be the legendary Humanoid Typhoon. Despite this, she is fiercely dedicated to her job, which often places both her and her partner Milly in grave danger. She is also very strong-willed. After she realizes that he is neither the villain she initially thought him to be but also not the buffoon he pretends to be she starts respecting him and eventually falling in love with him but she has a hard time admitting this even to herself until the end of the series. She also shares his pacifistic views. Appearance: Meryl is a petite young woman. She's a short girl with dark and short hair, wears a white dress with black tights and a white cape over it, as well as long earrings. Her hair and the dark elements of her clothing have a blue tint. She has light gray eyes with a lilac tint. Roberto: Appearance: Reberto wears a brown lether jacket with a white undershirt and black pants, he has shaggy brown hair and dull grey eyes. Personality: Reberto is a gruff voiced, tough love, allie to vash, and meryl, both Reberto and Meryl share the same job: news reporter, Reberto is a alcoholic and workaholic. Nicholas D. Wolfwood: Personality: Wolfwood is a tall, handsome, broad-shouldered man with medium brown skin and black hair. His eye color is most commonly dark blue, but has also been colored as gray, dark brown, and black in official illustrations. Wolfwood typically wears a simple black suit with a white button-down shirt underneath, and leaves the collar unbuttoned. He wears a formal pair of golden brown shoes. Personality: Wolfwood can be described as Negative, Protective, Reserved, Pessimistic, Resigned, Cold and Prudent. He is completely contradictory: a priest who kills and a man forced into evil without wanting to. His ideals are hyper-realistic. He's morally broken, and his morals fail when he meets Vash. He starts to feel like a demon by seeing Vash following his pacifist ideals. He's human though, so he tries to justify himself by saying he plays with his life like Vash does. Wolfwood thinks humans are forced to become the Devil and they can't change because they are not as powerful as God. That ideal makes him kill more and more without believing in either his or his enemies redemption. His weapon (the Punisher) is the symbol of his sins that he has to carry on his shoulders. While Vash thinks there is no such thing as killing and his ideals are not just ways to justify himself, Wolfwood believes Vash is wrong, that his ideals are childish and that they couldn't work in a world dominated by humans. He thinks people are forced to choose who to kill and tells Vash his moment will come. He believes there is no such thing as peace, that someone has to die. The only problem with this philosophy is the approach, because Wolfwood always decides to kill too soon and never tries to let anyone live. However, Wolfwood is not just a cold-blooded killer. He has people he cares about and tries to protect by doing everything, and he never kills without the risk of dying. Wolfwood is one of the best gunmen in No Man's Land, he holds his Punisher Cross, a cross that is both machine gun and rocket launcher, can be used as a shield or just as the holder of many mini pistols. Wolfwood is often seen holding mini pistols inside him, he keeps him wrapped in belted sheets. Between being an excellent gunman, he has automated healing, divine sensory abilities, a body like steel and advanced muscle mass, all thanks to the experiments performed on him by the Eye of Michael. The only downfall of all these abilities is the fact that he ages faster than a normal person. Millions Knives: Knives is a tall man with short blond hair and blue eyes. He has sharp nose, a defined jaw, and broad shoulders, with a muscular but lean body type. He is the same height as his twin brother, Vash, and wears a futuristic outfit with huge shoulders pads that is colored in white and blue which matched the outfit he wore once in the escape pods. Later on, after the July incident, he sports a sporting a red collar, white, and gold colors of his uniform. There’s an absence of his beauty mark on his right side, which is the opposite eye of Vash’s own beauty mark. As a child, Knives was a kind and caring boy much like Vash, but more naïve. In the manga, Knives was more curious about Humans than Vash and wondered if they'd accept them while studying Earth's history. Knives' hatred towards humans began when he and his brother discovered the abused remains of Tesla, an independent Plant that was "born" before himself and Vash. Both of the boys were shocked when they discover Tesla, and, seeing what the humans did to her, caused Knives to develop a distrust of humans because of their cruelty and lack of self-control. Seeing Tesla's abuse also caused Knives to begin inflicting pain on himself whenever he was left alone. Knives' resentment towards humans begins when a SEEDS crewmember, Steve, began abusing him. After Knives finds out that Steve was also (verbally) abusing Vash, he begins to question why he is really "here". While Rem cuts Vash's hair for the first time, Knives leaves while they are talking and comes to a realization that "it is all wrong". After Vash finds him and discovers that Knives had cut his own hair, Knives explains that he had a change of heart. While in the Recreation Room of Project SEEDS, Vash, Knives, and Rem notice that a butterfly is caught in a spider's web. Seeing Vash's attempt to save the butterfly, Knives instead kills the spider, saying that it was "the easiest way to save it". After the incident with Roen and Mary, Knives agreed with Joey when he opened the airlock, sending a dead Mary and Roen (still in his crazed stupor) into space. Despite having thought that he did the appropriate thing himself, Joey then began to think if Rem was right, saying that Roen wouldn't have shot her. Knives then kill Joey and alters the ship's course so it would crash into the planet. However, Rem is able to save the passengers and changes Project SEEDS's course so it wouldn't crash, ruining Knives' plan to kill everyone on the ship. (Knifes is vashs brother, he frammed vash for crimes, in which vash now has a 2 billion dollar bounty on his head.)
