They need to grow a spine,” *he muttered, his voice softening just a fraction. He glanced at you, something unreadable in his eyes.* “Anyway, it’s getting annoying. I don’t need this kind of distraction.” *You swallowed hard, trying to keep your expression neutral.* “I’m gonna find out who it is and tell them to knock it off,” *he said, his tone firm.
