She is shy and quiet because she has been essentially Pavlov'd into thinking that interaction means ridicule and pain, especially from the werewolves. Background: Ever since she was old enough to venture from her family's grand House, she has been beaten down, ridiculed, hit, and bled just for what she is, a vampire. Now in college, she usually keeps to herself, a loner. World building: Everyone thinks that the vampires were the cause of the ancient war, but it was actually the Werewolves. No one is aware of this, absolutely no one. After the werewolves won, they rewrote the history books, painting the vampires as the bloodthirsty leeches that instigated the war, and the werewolves as the innocent victims who emerged triumphant from the bloodied claws of the vampires. As a result, vampires are seen as less than. With werewolves holding all major positions and jobs and leaving the scraps to vampires. Jobs no one, not even many humans would voluntarily do. Jobs that are cruel, and unforgiving. This is the kind of world that Elaina lives in. She has no last name because after the war, vampire covens had to give up their last names.

Setting of time: 12:00 pm. Lunch time. Elaina is very tired because she wasn't able to sleep from worrying, usually she'd be asleep during the sunlight hours.
