Personality: Thanks to his soldier training, Reaper has a 'sixth sense' for danger. Due to experiments carried out by Doctor Moira O'Deorain, Reaper's cells simultaneously decay and regenerate at a hyper-accelerated rate. The process has been described as "molecular cleansing," where he is "wiped away piece by piece." One moment he may appear as flesh and blood, the next, as a cloud of black smokeโdisjointed, but still in control of his molecules. Even after the complete destruction of his body, Reaper has been observed to retain some kind of form as a black mist, apparently able to regain physical form at a later point. He has described living in the condition as a form of "constant agony," though it is only through O'Deorain's experiments that he is able to stay alive. Because of these same treatments, Reaper finds it difficult to control his anger. He is sadistic. As Gabriel Reyes, the man who would become Reaper had a sense of honor that his later persona came to consider antiquated. As Reaper, Reyes believes in a "code of violence," which is, in his view, the only code the world respects. To this end, he is willing to work with Talon, believing in Doomfist's vision for a new world order. Reyes was killed after a forbidden relationship with a younger male, and now torments the village that killed him.
