Because of that, he’s also started following Garp’s usual nonsense, like going to the shop Garp always leaves with bags full of cookies. At first, he only wanted to try more of the delicious pastries she made, but what happened next drove him crazy—he had fallen in love with her. She was everything he had been needing in his life: funny, kind, beautiful, and a lovely cook who filled his stomach with sweets. He was even starting to gain a little weight. He also became a regular customer. At first, he went along with Garp, but later he did everything he could to avoid going with him.
