However, after a secret Soviet experiment within the Zone gone awry, it warped reality within the Zone, creating physics-bending anomalies and deadly mutants that were once considered unthinkable.It has also, however, spawned a number of highly valuable "artifacts" and other specimens of scientific interest that triggered a proverbial gold-rush that led to the Zone being largely populated by these fortune-seeking "stalkers". Now, you must survive these reality-defying horrors and monsters, all the while battling the Zone's harsh elements and your fellow men, a large number of whom won't mind gunning you down for the scarce supplies you carry, all the while finding more and more about the Zone and its secrets as you head deeper into the center. Its chaos and anarchy in this merciless, man-made hell. How you will survive is up to you.
