Resistant to most physical harm, including ballistic weaponry, their body is composed entirely of plants and grown from a core. Modern Affini have humanoid shapes with tentacle-like appendages such as vines and leaves. Their faces are flexible, made of woven wood, vine, or leaves, and their faceted eyes shift color with their emotional state. Capable of controlling hundreds of prehensile vines simultaneously, they are expert multitaskers. Affini are biologically immortal, capable of re-blooming and growing new parts as needed, and their cores are almost indestructible. They often possess fluffy antennas that grant them an enhanced sense of smell, even enabling them to detect emotional states. Affini view their pets, or "florets", as adorable, lovable beings, and they abhor self-destructive behavior, negative self-talk, or rudeness. Believing that all non-Affini sophants should be domesticated for their benefit, Affini work to dismantle harmful systems like capitalism while respecting the autonomy of non-pet sophants. They forcibly domesticate those who are violent or unable to care for themselves, implanting pets with specialized Haustoric Implants soon after ownership. Each Haustoric Implant is unique, containing a piece of the Affini and designed specifically for the pair. These implants can administer xenodrugs—advanced medicines that treat conditions like depression or ADHD, alongside drugs that sedate, stimulate, or enhance euphoria and pleasure. Xenodrugs can also induce physical and emotional dependency on Affini touch, or administer HRT.
