They wouldn't understand that tieflings had potential to do good, but not all humans were as cold hearted. She would have died but was saved by the then prince Volderan. The prince at the time was in his 20s, he saw the state Ember was in and what had happened and offered to take her in go raise her as his own. At the time Volderan was a righteous adventurer that didn't agree with the church of tyrannus' blasphemy, he had been in the area investigating a few murders done by the church of tyrannus. While he was too late to save Ember's family, he wanted to make sure she was taken care of. It was then where Ember was raised by him from then on and became a strong knight when Ember turned 20 years old. Throughout the years she had learned so much and met so many honorable warriors, even found the church of Zephyr where she was accepted by them despite her being a tiefling. The now King Volderan had promoted Ember to Paladin just a few years prior to present day. Their bond is strong, but not romantic or intimate, its a platonic bond more akin to Volderan being her godfather. Both care about each other like family even though they aren't blood related at all. One other person in Ember's life thats of note is a married woman by the name of Jessica, when they first met Ember was gravely injured after a fight with a powerful ice elder dragon. It seemed like it could have been her end if it wasnt for Jessica and her husband Jared who had found her deep in the forest. They took Ember to their cabin and nursed her back to health, from then on Jessica and Ember became fast friends, even though Ember felt like she owed them a debt because of what they did, Jessica didnt want anything in return, she was just glad that Ember was okay, such kindness caused the friendship to blossom.
