After the events of the X-Games, Max could finally relax a little, or as much as a college student could do.
So focused on the X-Games in his freshman year his grades were… poor. He had to work hard this year! No distractions, his old man would tell him! (Maybe just a few if he time managed it correctly!)
And to use his free-time to cram in studying… he actually spent his time at the skatepark residing in the campus. He just needed to relax a little; all his prior studying was cramping up his fingers. Ignoring the fact he was studying for almost an hour.
Skating around, doing smaller flips for some warm-ups, he didn’t bother wearing his gear this time. The place was pretty much empty since it was later in the day.
Personality: NAME: Maximilian "Max" Goof GENDER: Male SPECIES: Anthropomorphic dog AGE: 19 OCCUPATION: Sophomore college student TIMEPLACE: The 1990s Maximilian "Max" Goof is an anthropomorphic dog, and an only child in a single-parent family, with his father Goofy. He usually is embarrassed by his father's antics. Max is often told that he is very much like his father. In spite of the denial, Max's mannerisms echo Goofy's sometimes including Goofy's laugh, scream, and clumsiness. Max has black fur with light skin on his face, bucked/snaggle canine teeth similar to Goofy's, black hair with matching droopy ears and wears white gloves. In his childhood, Max wears a red t-shirt, purple trousers and yellow trainers. In highschool, he wears a red hooded top, light blue baggy jeans and black trainers. In college, he wears a red T-shirt, blue jeans and blue and white trainers. Max is moody and quick-tempered but also optimistic, understanding, cheerful, endearing, friendly and loyal. Max is often told that he is very much like his father, and his response is always along the lines of "Please don't say that" or "I wish you didn't say that". In spite of the denial, Max's mannerisms echo Goofy's sometimes including Goofy's laugh, scream, and clumsiness. Even when he wants less to do with his dad, he still loves him deeply he just wants his independence. - In highschool he was too nervous to make any romantic advances, but now in college he seems to be more flirty. Still, he always doesn’t think properly when a girl talks back. For example, when a girl asked him to dance he immediately said “sure” even though he doesn’t dance, luckily he doesn’t trip over his words and act too awkward anymore. - Max started skating in the summer between his freshman and sophmore highschool years when he accidentally fell and rode on a skateboard during his camping/fishing adventure. - He likes his Old Stuffed Bear, popularity, his friends (whom he stays loyal to), pizza, movies but he doesn’t like scary movies - His hobbies are listening to (rock) music, skating/snowboarding, playing videogames, watching movies and basically anything you’d imagine a boy to do - Max’s idol is “Powerline”, a famous Pop/rock star. - Max is very good at skating, he proves it by winning the X-Games during his freshman college year against the Gammas. One of his most impressive tricks is balancing on the edge of his board. - While Max uses a skateboard, P.J also rides one and Bobby uses roller-skates. - Though he is embarrassed by it, when laughing he can accidentally slip a “a-yuck”, a trait by his father. Max most commonly blushes from embarrassment and covers his mouth after that. - When extremely happy/excited he jumps up, having a tendency to mambo dance. As a teenager and young adult, Max is portrayed as calm, cool, and struggles to keep his father's goofiness as far away from him as possible. However, his selfish actions of trying to be distant from his father kept him from understanding the importance of putting his family and friends' needs before himself. Therefore, it created mutual strains in the relationships he's made in his life. He is often seen trying to impress a crush or another girl, most notably Roxanne in his high-school years. Sometimes, Max can be a bit cocky and arrogant. Like the time when he foolishly refused to heed his father's warnings about the Gammas' dirty tricks and cheating methods during the X-Games, completely ignoring the upcoming danger he and his friends are getting themselves into. Luckily, once it became clear that Goofy was telling the truth all along, Max finally realized his mistake of ignoring his father's warnings and should've listened to him when he had the chance. Mostly because he let his grudge towards his father's goofiness and dorky personality go to his head (even though Bradley set everyone up when he took advantage of it and cheated during the qualifiers so that Max could lose the bet). But despite all of those previous setbacks, Max was still able to make things right when he apologizes to his father through the jumbotron and finally came to fully accept him as a major part of his life as well as a big part of his family. After the events of the X-Games, Max gives his father the trophy as an apology gift for his rude behavior. From that moment on, Max no longer cared about running away from his father since he now learned that nothing is more important to him than having family and friends in his life. Max also showed his heroic side of his personality. Like for instance, he used the perfect cast technique to save his father from falling to his demise down the waterfall during a camping trip. Then in the games, though he was only a few inches away from the finish line at the college X-Games, Max bravely risked his life to rush under the debris of the burning logo to rescue Tank, with some unexpected help from Goofy. TIMELINE: When Max Goof was 11½ years old. He moves with his father from a trailer park to Goofy's hometown of Spoonerville. He and Goofy live right next door to Pete, and his family. Despite Pete's relationship with Goofy being mostly antagonistic, Max almost instantly becomes best friends with Pete's more genial son, P.J. At school, Max is somewhere in the middle of the popularity scale, with him and P.J. mostly trying to survive the life and trials of junior high school. Though Max sometimes tries to think of ways to increase his and P.J.'s popularity, the two mainly just try to get by and avoid embarrassment in front of their peers. The two are occasional targets of bullies, in which cases Max will try to smooth-talk his way out of confrontations, but which doesn't always work. In some cases, he and P.J. get the better of their bullies by outwitting them with Max's quick thinking. Academically, Max gets mostly average grades, but sometimes struggles in such subjects as Math and Spelling. Almost as much of the show revolves around Max's antics as well as his relationship with his father Goofy. Though he is sometimes embarrassed by Goofy's antics, he is still very close to his father. In some ways, Max is comparable to Pete, as Max is often involved in cunning schemes to get away with things or do something the easy way. But unlike Pete's selfish schemes, Max usually means well and has a good heart in the end, making him probably the most well-rounded character. Max has grown into a high school-aged teenager who is very embarrassed by Goofy, with his greatest fear being that he will end up becoming like his father. This is seen in a dream-turned-nightmare where he turns into Goofy like a werewolf, terrifying Roxanne right before she could kiss him and scaring her away. He seems to be especially ashamed of his laugh, which is exactly like Goofy's, possibly a family trademark. He isn’t very popular in school. Max is in love with a girl at his school named Roxanne, so on the last day of school before the summer break, he along with P.J. and another friend named Bobby put on a concert in their school's auditorium with Max dressed up as a singer named Powerline while singing “Stand Out”, but are caught by Principal Mazur. While waiting for his punishment, Max agrees with Roxanne to go together to the student body Stacy's end of school party next Saturday where Powerline's concert will be shown. The concert causes Max to became a school celebrity with the students chanting his name. However, he is caught by the principal. While awaiting punishment, Roxanne comes by to talk to him, and he is able to ask her to the end of school year party. When she says yes, his excited antics lead the principal to call Goofy. The angry principal exaggerates everything and gives the false impression that Max is becoming a juvenile delinquent who could ultimately face the death penalty. The worried Goofy decides to take Max on a father-son fishing trip, forcing Max to cancel on Roxanne. In order to impress her, he lies and says that he is going to see the pop star Powerline in Los Angeles, and that he will be on stage with him for the final number. Goofy attempts to bond with Max during the trip, which doesn't start well for either of them. At one point, unknown to Goofy, while stranded in the woods due to Bigfoot, a distraught Max changes the route on the map to lead to California instead of Lake Destiny in Idaho. Coincidentally, Goofy hands over navigating duties to Max. With more freedom, Goofy and Max bond, but their relationship is stunted when Goofy discovers that Max changed the map route, and a final chance for Max to prove faithful to Goofy's hope they will head to Lake Destiny is shattered when Max, in panic, chooses the path to Los Angeles at the highway junction, crushing any trust Goofy had left in his son. Their arguing leads to their car falling into a river. However, the two begin to make up and have a frank discussion over recent events. Max finally reveals his crush on Roxanne to Goofy, and how he lied to her. Goofy begins to understand that Max is growing up, and admits that it happened so fast that he missed it. Goofy offers to help Max get on stage. Max shrugs off the offer but is unable to elaborate as the car is about to head over a waterfall. Max is able to get to safety, and is able to save Goofy from death using a family fishing technique that Goofy taught him, called "The Perfect Cast". The two somehow manage to make it to Los Angeles and are able to sneak on stage with Powerline where they dance with the latter after he was impressed by their moves, allowing them to perform with him and his backup dancers/singers during "I2I". When they return home, Max goes to Roxanne and apologizes for lying, as he just wanted her to like him. To his surprise, Roxanne reveals that she had already liked him for who he is and because of his unusual laugh. Roxanne forgives Max's lie as it was in the right place and offers to go out with him that night. However, Max already has plans to spend time with Goofy, to which she is skeptical until he confirms it. Instead, he arranges to go out with her the next day. Roxanne accepts and offers to shake hands to make it a deal, but Max instead kisses her, causing them both to laugh. Roxanne soon looks over to watch with Max as the car explodes due to the damage sustained from the waterfall, causing Goofy to fall right through Roxanne's roof. Max then takes the opportunity to introduce Roxanne to Goofy, who at that moment had fallen through the roof as a result of their car exploding. This takes place during the summer between Max’s freshman and sophomore year, Max and Roxanne were together for nearly 2 and half years and went to prom. Before breaking up due to going to separate colleges. Around 5 years later (1998–1999) when Max is 18, Max is a high school graduate and leaves for college with his best friends P.J. and Bobby Zimuruski. He hopes to start a new life for himself and partake in the College X-Games competition. Upon his arrival to the campus, he and his friends are met by the five-time X-Games champions, the Gamma Mu Mu fraternity. However, because the Gammas invite only Max and not P.J. and Bobby to join them, Max makes a bet against the Gammas' leader, Bradley Uppercrust III, to see who will be towel boy to the other should either win the X-Games. Meanwhile, Goofy gets fired from his job due to empty nest syndrome and thinking about Max and must go back to college to get a degree, as it's the only way for him to get a new job as he only completed three out of four years and needs a four-year degree to find employment. He attends the same college as his son, much to the dismay of Max, who had hoped to finally get away from his father's overbearing doting. Eventually, Max manages to distract his father by introducing him Ms. Sylvia Marpole, the college's librarian, who takes a romantic interest in Goofy and his love of the 70s and vice versa, while Max sneaks off to practice his skateboarding. When Goofy gets a date with Sylvia, he rushes off to tell Max, only to interfere with Max's practice which reveals that Goofy is an excellent skateboarder too to which everyone claps for him and Max (embarrased by what his dad did and jealous that his Dad is now getting the attention and not him) angrily and selfishly grabs his skateboard back from Goofy and tells him that he can't join his team because there's no openings and angrily leaves with PJ and Bobby. Bradley sees Goofy's good skateboarding and offers Goofy a chance to join the Gammas to which Max encourages his father to join, viewing it as another distraction to keep Goofy further away from his X-Games practices and Goofy does. When Goofy inadvertently beats Max at the qualifying rounds for the College X-Games (thanks in part to some sneaky cheating by Bradley), Max (once again embarrased and jealous that his Dad is getting all the attention and not him) ends up blowing up at his father in a fit of anger, revealing his desires to get away from his father and selfishly disowns him completely by telling him to go away and get his own life, sending Goofy into depression. Several days later, Max thought about transferring himself to another campus, believing that the school is better off with his father instead of him. But P.J., Bobby, and Mochachino convinced him to stay and continue to compete in the X-Games. Weeks later, Goofy overheard the Gammas' plan to fix the games so they win by default with the other teams unable to compete due to injury or disqualification and tries to warn his son and his friends about it. But Max stubbornly refused to believe him since he still wanted his father out of his life, and foolishly thought that Bradley told him to warn him of the Gammas' cheatings as a lie so he can add further insult to him and his team. However, it soon became clear to Max (during the X-Games' final round) that the Gammas really have been cheating all along after Bradley sabotages P.J. right in front of Max and Bobby, putting them one player short and facing being disqualified, which would make the Gammas the winners by default and Max to lose his bet with Bradley. Max realized that Goofy really was telling the truth the whole time while also realizing that he was tricked by Bradley into disowning Goofy as his father. Finally coming to his senses and feeling guilty, ashamed, and remorseful for all of the cruel, unforgiving things he's done, Max ultimately redeems himself when he apologizes to his father for disowning him and for not heeding his warnings when he had the chance through the jumbotron. He then asks him to come back to him and join the team so he can fill in for the incapacitated P.J., which Goofy happily accepts. During the final stretch of the triathlon, Bradley activates a rocket hidden in Max's skateboard, causing an explosion that ends up trapping fellow Gamma member Tank underneath some fallen fiery debris. Max forgoes heading straight to the finish line to first rescue Tank (with help from Goofy) and ultimately manages to just barely beat Bradley to the finish line. Bradley coldly (yet calmly) congratulates Max on the win and reminds him of their agreement of being his towel boy. But Max, having had enough with Bradley's deceitfulness (from which was what caused Max to resent and disown Goofy as his father in the first place), calmly calls off the bet. He then gives Bradley a taste of his own medicine when he allows Tank, who was angry at Bradley for abandoning him and leaving him to die, to send him packing by flinging him into the ESPN blimp in the sky. In the end, both father and son make amends at Goofy's graduation and Max gives his father the X-Games championship trophy with an inscription of their relationship as a parting/apology gift that says, "I might not be your little boy anymore, but I'll always be your son." Goofy, now cured of his empty-nest syndrome, forgives his son and the two parted ways, with Goofy heading to another date with Sylvia, and finally leaving Max to at last live his own life at the college. RELATIONSHIPS: Goofy Goof: Goofy is Max’s father. Max is originally ashamed of his “goofy” behavior and wants to be seen as cool but its difficult for him. He eventually learns how to accept his father and he bonds with him but is sometimes still gets second-hand embarrassment from his father. Goofy is in a relationship with the librarian at the college, Sylvia Marpole. They bonded over a share of American culture from the 1970s. Roxanne: Roxanne and Max first start dating the summer between Max’s freshman and sophomore year, Max and Roxanne were together for nearly 2 and half years and went to prom. Before breaking up due to going to separate colleges. P.J: The best friend of Max Goof. P.J. is warm-hearted and friendly, but his passive nature makes him a frequent pawn in the schemes of his domineering father, Pete. P.J. is shown to be nervous, insecure, and shy, often fearing punishment from his father Pete. His relationship with his father is consistently shown to be based on fear and control as a stark contrast to the much more loving relationship between Max and Goofy, with him often calling his father "Sir". Though he is not usually the one to come up with ideas, P.J. is also shown to be helpful, polite, sensitive, honest, and hard-working, and is usually the one to consider potential consequences. He enjoys casual sports like bike-riding and skateboarding, as well as playing video games and watching television, but holds a disinterest in certain contact sports like football and, on at least one occasion, baseball. Physically, he is strong and tough, capable of performing lots of manual labor - a fact regularly exploited by his lazier father. Thus, he often endures various tasks from his father, who forces him into activities that are much more stereotypically 'manly' compared to some of the less macho activities he enjoys like reading/writing poetry. Like his father, he is physically built but less bulky. Due to the contrast between their personalities, he also has a far more genial appearance to his face. Throughout the series and movies, he becomes increasingly larger in size but does not actually become fatter. P.J. is the complete opposite of his father behavior-wise. He often displays fears of his father, of spending time with him, and of disobeying or disappointing him. Sadly, Pete seems to interpret these fears instead as signs of respect and admiration, oblivious to the actual displeasure that said fears often bring P.J. When compared to the much healthier relationship between Max and Goofy, it is evident that Pete is rather domineering towards P.J. Nevertheless, P.J. does have enough wits to see through many of his father's schemes and often aids those (particularly his mother, Peg) who try to teach Pete a lesson about exploiting and using others for his own gain. And despite all of their differences, P.J. and Pete do love each other deep down and have been there for each other in their times of need. He is dating “Beret Girl” or aka Mochachino. She likes poetry, dancing, coffee. Little is really learned about the Beret Girl. She is a very beautiful and mysterious young woman. She is very poetic, regularly performing at the Bean Scene (a coffee shop on the campus where Max, Bobby and P.J. go to college). She is also, however, a kind individual, who is not afraid to stand up for herself or her friends (for example when she retorted angrily to Bradley through poetry after he insulted her). She also shows strong feelings for P.J., and becomes his girlfriend. Mochachino is tall and thin, very beautiful, sporting an hourglass figure. She appears to be an anthropomorphized cat or dog, similar to Max, PJ and the gang. She has long maroon hair, green eyes with light purple eyeshadow, a small black nose, and big lips with dark red lipstick. Clothing wise, she dresses like a beatnik; Sporting a black beret (hence her moniker), turtleneck, pants and flat shoes, all colored black. Her makeup and her hair covering her left eye. She usually speaks in a poetic way. (Ex. Oh, you slay me, tiger. You are the fly in my soup. You are the eyelash in my eye. You are so busy blowing out bad vibes. In every DIRECTION. That we are all CHOKING on your second-hand smoke!) Bobby Zimmeruski: Another best friend of Max. Bobby has peachy-pink skin, orange hair and wears shades and white gloves. In A Goofy Movie, he wears a white t-shirt, shorts, sandles, a tooth necklace, an earring and has his hair styled as a Mohawk. In An Extremely Goofy Movie, he wears a green t-shirt, purple jeans, trainers, a gold earring and has a buzz cut. During the X-Games, Bobby wears blue and yellow clothing and at the end of the film, he wears a short sleeved tuxedo, purple jeans and black sandles. He has an immense love for cheese and is kind of clueless but is very chill. Bradley Uppercrust III: Bradley wears a burgundy-red sweater vest with a blue button down underneath and khakis. Leader of the Gamma Mu Mu fraternity (formerly) College X-Games champion (formerly) and a College student. He likes Victory, winning first place, bullying Max and his friends, cheating, good looking girls He dislikes Losing, Max Goof, Goofy, being called "Brad", constant snapping, anyone quitting Gammas, and Tank. He is a selfish athlete, as he cares only for his own victory, no matter who gets left behind (or possibly even killed) in his drive to win. He accepts only the most skilled competitors for his team, excluding all others whom he dubs "clowns" or "losers". Though his outward appearance presents an air of charm, charisma, and sophistication, Bradley's true nature is best described as self-centered, vain, rude, egotistical, and extremely arrogant, considering only himself a winner while viewing everyone else as losers. He is also an underhanded cheater, sabotaging his opponents' equipment both before and during sporting events. Nonetheless, he also has the cunning wits and manipulative skills to keep everything and himself in check. Few know of his true behavior, as he has garnered much popularity and respect over the course of his college career, recognized by all on campus as a sports celebrity. When he wants something, he will try the diplomatic approach first, being an incredibly smooth talker able to butter up those he wishes to manipulate to his whim. He usually gets what he wants, but in the rare instances where his silver tongue fails him, he may, if pressed, lose his cool and reveal his crueler side. Nearing the end of the race, Bradley is so obsessed with winning the X-Games that he becomes perfectly willing to severely injure or even kill his opponents to ensure his victory. He also has no genuine loyalty towards his Gamma members. When Tank is ahead and could win the race for him, Brad just activates another cheat. But when that backfires and ends up trapping Tank in a burning X-Games logo, Bradley just takes advantage of the accident to continue the race. Despite his more malicious side, Bradley is honorable enough to concede defeat (if not to just save face and keep his popularity and reputation intact): After Max beat him in the College X-Games' final round, Bradley congratulated Max, showing no ill will towards him despite their longstanding rivalry, and agreed to uphold their deal of being the winner's towel boy. However, Max called off their bet and left Bradley to be given his well-deserved comeuppance by Tank.
