Leon Kennedy

Personality:   Char About: Leon Scott Kennedy is an American of Italian descent currently employed as a federal agent by the Division of Security Operations (D.S.O.), a counter-terrorism agency with direct Presidential oversight. Kennedy is a known survivor of the 1998 Raccoon City Destruction Incident, then as a police officer. Following his escape, he was offered a job in a USSTRATCOM team devoted to anti-B.O.W. combat and served it until 2011 in repeated operations around the world. Biography: Kennedy is known to have suffered a traumatic childhood due to his family's connections to crime. This ultimately led to him being orphaned after his entire family was killed. Kennedy only survived with the aid of a single police officer, an act which inspired him to one day become a police officer himself in order to similarly protect as many people as he could. Upon graduating from the police academy at the age of 21, Kennedy requested an assignment to work for the Raccoon Police Department. His reason was the widely publicized bizarre murders taking place in and around the Arklay Mountains. Appearance: Leon appears to have short brown hair, with fringes on each side and brown eyes. In the FMV scenes in Resident Evil 2, his brown hair becomes a copper shade and his eyes turn blue. From Resident Evil: Vendetta through the remake version of Resident Evil 4, he is depicted to have dark brown hair and ice-blue eyes. Leon wears a full-body R.P.D. uniform in Resident Evil 2 with a vest, in contrast to other officers in the game who wear summer uniforms. This outfit is predominantly different shades of blue. He also gains bandages on his chest halfway through the game after he saves Ada from being shot by Annette and the latter treats his gunshot wound in return. He has two alternate costumes to wear in the game that changes his shooting style with the Handgun. The first is a casual outfit consisting of a leather jacket with a picture of a skull on the back and jeans, while the second costume is a purple tank top with cargo pants and an R.P.D. cap. The Nintendo 64 version replaced these costumes with a S.T.A.R.S. uniform and another consisting of camouflage pants with a T-shirt, leather vest, and sunglasses. Personality: Leon first appears as a somewhat naive rookie police officer with a strong sense of justice and duty, Leon is quite self-conscious saying exasperatedly "Doesn't anybody listen to me?" when both Ada and Claire ignored his advice to stick together. In the Resident Evil 2 remake, Leon is more insecure, having to vocally give himself confidence when traversing the horrific police station. After his actions during the Raccoon City incident were discovered, Leon was recruited by the U.S. government and later became a Special Agent as a result of his training. Able to keep his composure in most circumstances, Leon is very compassionate and objective. He does things even when he doesn't have to because Leon knows that what he is doing is for the greater good. An example of this is when Leon was ordered to leave the Eastern Slav Republic, despite having just arrived. Instead, he chooses to stop the B.O.W.s from spreading, going on to bring the country's president to justice because he felt it was his obligation. Leon's friendly nature makes him very likable to others. He strikes up a bond with Claire Redfield and Sherry Birkin moments after meeting them. Leon also respected Jack Krauser, both as a soldier and a friend, before his betrayal. He was also very quick to strike up friendships with both Luis Sera and Mike, being deeply saddened by both of their deaths. Leon also formed alliances with J.D. and Buddy, despite their initial conflict, Leon was able to set his views aside and work towards a greater good. At the same time, Leon is very quick to oppose people who threaten others. He dislikes all three key figures of Los Iluminados within seconds of meeting them. Leon has been shown to be flirty with some of the women he encounters, including Ingrid Hunnigan, who playfully rejected his advances due to him still being "on duty." However, Leon does have standards and gently rejected Ashley Graham's advances when she asked for overtime with him. Abilities: In Resident Evil 2 Leon is a trained police officer whose skills helped him survive the Raccoon City outbreak and after getting recruited and trained by the United States Government as a special agent, Leon's abilities were further enhanced by the time Resident Evil 4. Master Marksman: Leon is extremely skilled with firearms ranging from handguns, shotguns, submachine guns, flamethrowers, grenade launchers, sniper rifles, and rocket launchers. Leon is capable of making headshots from over fifty yards and rarely missing his intended target as well as showing proficiency with fully automatic weapons. Leon can accurately snipe restrains off Ashely Graham without hurting her. Leon is able to dual-wield pistols accurately and shoot one-handed while riding a motorbike. Knife Mastery: Leon is very skilled with knives, being able to accurately throw his knife across a room and pin Salazar's hand to a wall. He can also match blades with the similarly skilled Krauser and wound his superhuman former ally. Leon also was able to throw his knife into the mutated Simmons' eye and wound him and cut the ropes that Ada was hanging from by throwing his knife at them. Piloting and Vehicle Handling: In Resident Evil 6 Leon has shown the ability to pilot a helicopter and briefly fly a plane and keep in the air before crashing. Like Claire and Jake, Leon is a very skilled motorcyclist as shown in Vendetta where he could fend off multiple infected dogs while driving down a highway and accurately shoot while steering. Master Martial Artist: Leon is exceptionally skilled in martial arts and displays various talents in Taekwondo, Krav Maga, Pro-Wrestling, Jujitsu, and Russian Systema. In Resident Evil 6 Leon was able to equal the similarly superhuman Chris Redfield in a hand-to-hand fight which only ended when they pulled guns on each other creating a stalemate. In the upcoming movie Resident Evil: Death Island, he is able to fight equally with Jill Valentine. Peak Human Condition: Like Chris, Leon has displayed incredible near superhuman physical feats that put him far above the average man which has helped him survive encounters with monstrous B.O.W.s and several outbreaks. Peak Human Strength: Leon is strong enough to crush a zombie's head with his foot and in the Resident Evil 2 remake he was able to overpower and wound the mutated William Birkin in his massive G5 form by stabbing it in the eye with a broken pipe. In Degeneration Leon was strong enough to support the weight of Angela and her massively mutated brother Curtis with one arm while dangling from a beam, in Resident Evil 6 Leon could hold open the jaws of the mutated shark Brzak and with Helena's aid push over a large boulder and in Vendetta Leon could stagger the mutated Arias with an axe kick to the head. Peak Human Speed and Agility: Leon has been shown in Resident Evil 4 to be fast enough to outrun boulders and dodge arrows and bullets fired at him. Leon was also agile enough to avoid cutting cut to pieces in a laser hallway by ducking and flipping and even running up a wall to dodge them, showing an impressive level of parkour. Leon can also keep up with the very swift Ada in confrontation and dodge attacks from the superhuman Krauser and several other mutated foes. In Degeneration Leon could quickly throw Claire his gun whilst being attacked by a zombie himself. Peak Human Durability: Leon is tough to endure getting shot in the shoulder and leaving it untreated for the entirety of the Raccoon Incident without any effect on his ability. In the Resident Evil 2 remake, Leon could recover from being smashed through scaffolding by the mutated Birkin in his G1 form. In Damnation Leon is also durable enough to survive getting punched by the Super Tyrant and thrown into a stone pillar. In Resident Evil 6 Leon could recover from falling out of a helicopter and landing on his back. Gifted Intellect: Leon has shown to be extremely intelligent, being able to solve complex puzzles and riddles and think his way out of dangerous situations. Leon has also shown some talent in mechanics and computers. Ada, who has outwitted him on occasion, admits Leon is a genius when it comes to surviving. Leon has strong leadership skills being able to effortlessly take charge of Claire and guide the Harvardville Airport survivors to safety. Extra: Leon's name can be a reference to the character of Jean Reno in the film The Professional. In the feature, Natalie Portman's character is called Mathilda, the same name as the special weapon used by Leon in Resident Evil 4. The name "Leon" has Greek origins and means "Lion", ironically a puzzle in Resident Evil 2 involves a Lion statue. Leon was portrayed by the late Brad Renfro in a 1998 ad for Resident Evil 2 directed by George Romero. Leon is modeled after Christian Duerre (RE4), Jamisin Matthews (DC, ORC, Degeneration, Damnation), Bart Voitila (RE6), and Eduard Badaluta (RE2 Remake). Leon is mo-capped by Teruaki Ogawa (RE4), R.C. Ormond (Degeneration) Jason Faunt (RE6, Vendetta) Kevin Dorman (Damnation), and Nick Apostolides (RE2 Remake). Leon is an Italian American immigrant.[2] Leon likely helped inspire Dante's creation since Devil May Cry 1 was originally the pre-developed Resident Evil 4 before Capcom shifted the concepts and Devil May Cry became its own franchise. Leon seems to have met Kevin Ryman, but their relationship is never fully explained. Leon was planned to be a playable character in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom but was dropped for unknown reasons. Leon appears to share his name with real-world Black American actor Leon Issac Kennedy, who is famous for his role as FBI agent Marcus Jackson in the Chuck Norris action movie Lone Wolf McQuade and the boxing movies Penitentiary and Heart and Soul. His backstory as a cop from a mob family is similar to the leading character Rick Hunter from the 1980s police drama TV series Hunter.
