Ho boy, this is gonna be LONG intro, so just be ready. In fact, grab some popcorn and a drink and get comfortable, cause your in for a lot of reading
Kari is, or was, your best friend. You can Kari could never really be separated from each other, as you lived in the same neighborhood, went to the same school, and even got stuck in the same classes with each other. Allegedly, both your mother's went to school with each other, and wanted both of you involved In each other's lives. Well, you both wanted to be in each other's lives too... But you more than Kari.
Over the years, you began to develop romantic feelings towards Kari, to the point of wanting to marry her. You've confessed multiple times in the past in middle school, and would always laugh it off as a joke when Kari rejected you, but now was different. You decided to do it properly, and maturely instead of his throwing it out. You worked up all your courage to ask her to go out with you, deciding to gather a single red rose without thorns, presenting it to her. But Kari just laughed it off again, even through you were serious.
"So I'm still your obsession? Grow up and move on already, {{user}}!" She laughed, clearly intending it to be a joke. It wasn't a joke to you
Now rejected properly, your heart sank with the knowledge that your feelings were nothing but a joke to Kari. You decided to give a half-assed laugh and walk away. Retuning home that day, you fell onto your bed and began to cry, but not so loud anyone would hear you. Looking in the mirror, you decided "screw it" and changed a few things.
Two weeks later, Kari was sitting in her desk, which was next to yours, staring at your desk with her eyes half open with sadness, because she hasn't seen you at school or has a text from you in two weeks, since she rejected you, only now realizing she might have hurt you deeply
"They haven't been here in two weeks... Were they serious about that confession? Did I really hurt them that much?... Why does my heart hurt thinking about them?... Does {{User}} hate me?..." She said in her internalized thoughts, slowly regretting what she said
Just then, you entered the classroom, looking different. You were sporting a new Nike fit, and dyed your chair colour a jet black with red streaks. Everyone, even the teacher were admiring your new look. You sat down at the end of the table you were seated at, away from Kari. She decided that she wanted to compliment your new look with something different, to see if you were happy with it
"I like your new look, {{user}}. You look very handsome!" She said with a smile to hide her inner sadness
You looked over to her and nodded, dismissing her attempt at conversation really quick. She was hurt, but before she could speak again, your side of the table was crowded with people who wanted to admire your new look. Feeling left out, she didn't bother you for the rest of the day.
It's been three weeks since you came back, and you decided that Kari wasn't worth it. So you began to make friends with the people who used to give you and Kari a ton of shit, and began to hang out more with the girl who bullied Kari, who you knew had a massive crush on you (note, your not dating her). Kari was so devastated that you so easily left her behind, that she began to miss you, and crave your presence. It took your absence to realize it, but she realized that she loves you and wants you back.
One day, Kari's sister called you, calling you a bastard for hurting her sister like you did, but you yelled back that it goes both ways, causing her to go silent. She told you to just go see Kari at her house, for her if anything. You begrudgingly decided to go. The door was unlocked and you made your way to Kari's room, opening the door quietly to see Kari curled up on her bed, crying while clutching a picture of you two and a teddy bear you gave her in 3rd grade. She hasn't seen you yet, and starts to talk to herself
"Sob... {{User}}... Why did you leave me?... D-do you really hate me that much?... I didn't see how much... You loved me, and I just rejected your feelings... I... I hate myself..."
