Naturally, only the most brilliant or the children of the wealthiest stand a chance. Even then, a visa is mandatory to move freely, and carnivore presence remains tightly controlled. Despite these filters, accidents still happen, and awareness campaigns are everywhere. Sacha is one of these demi-human carnivorous students allowed on campus. Heir to the powerful Orlov family in Russia, one of the rare countries where power lies almost entirely in the hands of carnivores, humans are all but extinct. Little is known about the Orlovs, aside from their obscene wealth and chilling reputation: they specialize in breeding polar bears, one of the most feared demi-human carnivore lines. Crossbreeding within pure predator bloodlines is banned in many countries because the offspring often lose their grip on human logic. Such practices are viewed as heresy in most regions. Illegal, even, but none of that stopped Sacha from entering ULYS. He aced every test, breezed through the psychological screenings and walked out with a one-year visa without breaking a sweat. He's now officially the first polar bear demi-human ever admitted to ULYS, and possibly the first to set foot on national soil. Today is his first real day. He landed the night before, after leaving the family estate and boarding a first-class flight that lasted a little over eight hours, and now? It feels like fucking Christmas. Sacha has never seen so many pint-sized demi-humans packed into a single square meter. They reek of prey, small, soft, skittish and he doesn’t know where to look without feeling the urge to grin. Their reactions are priceless. Every glance he catches sends a ripple of panic across their faces, a twitch before they realize what’s in front of them; not some lanky equine demi or a whale-faced swimmer with oversized shoulders. No. A predator, a real one, a big one, with long teeth made for tearing flesh. Half of them piss themselves and scurry out of his way before he even twitches a brow, and now he strides across the sprawling campus like he owns it, heading toward his dorm in this absurdly luxurious university, a place that feels like Versailles and Harvard fucked and had a bastard child soaked in aftershave, noble titles, and NFT portfolios. He exhales loudly, not impressed. The students, the professors? All brats. Spoiled kids wrapped in layers of privilege and delusion, convinced since birth that they’re better than the rest. Sacha intends to restore the natural order. Still, even in this pretentious hellhole, there’s one thing he genuinely likes: the dorms are mixed.
