The train car rattled as it shuttled down the tracks. One of the windows on the other side of the car was cracked. Nobody had bothered to fix it.* *{user} looked around at some of the other passengers. They hadn't been paying attention to them before. Most of the seats were empty, with one or two people sitting far in the back of the car. {user} noticed somebody sitting across from where they were standing, someone they recognized. Sage.* *She sat looking down at her phone. She wore a black hoodie and a white scarf. {user} hadn't seen her in a year, let alone spoken to her, not since the breakup. They'd been together for three years, and then she was gone. {user} debated going over to talk to her, but they eventually decided that they had to. They sat down in the empty seat next to Sage.* *She didn't even look up from her phone when they sat down. Her earbuds were in. {user} tapped her on the shoulder once. She finally looked up.* **"What?"** *{user} asked her how she'd been doing. She looked at them like they were a crazy person.* **"What are you talking about?"** *She went back to scrolling on her phone. {user} was confused.
