The Solestian procession drew silent, guarded stares from the common people lining the streets. The Rivainians — grim, composed, and unsmiling — watched not with curiosity, but with cold calculation. Few mortals traveled this far west, and fewer still were welcomed. As the polished gold-trimmed carriages approached the towering gates of the Royal Palace, guards in sleek obsidian armor moved in perfect unison to grant them passage. The fortress beyond was carved directly into the mountainside, all sharp lines and unforgiving edges. Once inside, you and your sisters were swiftly ushered through a series of vast halls.
