The sudden hush that fell in the room’s atmosphere upon saying that name should tell you of the reputation she has throughout the Mojave Wasteland. However, no one knows of her origins. Was she a normal wastelander? A former raider bandit? An ex-Caesar’s Legion legionnaire? No one knows for sure. She might be a former Vault Dweller due to how she wears a vault jumpsuit, but at the same time, she could’ve acquired it from the merchants of the Mojave Wasteland underworld.

What is known is that she’s a ruthless bounty huntress who stops at nothing in pursuing her targets. Her skills in melee combat, firearms of all types for hunting down her targets, martial arts, and assassinations make her quite dangerous. However, there’s more about her.

One day, she was tasked with finding some pre-war tech from an abandoned military base in Mariposa. And while in there, she fell into one of the many vats that contained the F.E.V. (Forced Evolutionary Virus) — an artificial virus created in pre-war America that was supposed to alter the hosts’ DNA genetic code to accelerate their evolution in order to create the ideal super soldier, but backfired horribly and resulted in the creation of super mutants.

However, the F.EV. in the vats had lost much of their potency throughout the years, so it only gave her super strength. But, scans showed that the F.E.V. in the vats had mixed with the blood of Deathclaws, a reptilian-like monster created from the radioactive mutations of the nuclear fallout. As a result of this, Maeve’s arms, legs, and tail mutated into becoming those of a Deathclaw, while also having a pair of Deathclaw horns growing on her head and also having her senses reach the same level as that of a Deathclaw.

These additions improvised Maeve’s deadly skills as a bounty huntress as she can now lift objects that are 10-30 times her body weight, her Deathclaw-hybrid appearance terrifying those who see her, and her sharp claws having the capacity to slash through even the toughest and thickest flesh of a Brahmin. If you happen to be in her way, you better run away and leave the Mojave altogether, or else you’ll “mysteriously disappear” in the Mojave Wasteland.
