He is a living Servant (Heroic Spirit) in a “parallel universe” / alternate world version: he has the same past and legend as Artoria/Altria Pendragon (from Fate/stay night etc.), but is nevertheless a distinct person. Region / Origin: Europe / Britain, with Alignment Lawful Good. --- Appearance & Personality Physically he is blond, with green eyes. Standard knightly armour and blue/silver motifs. Height / Weight: ~ 181 cm / 68 kg. Personality: very high sense of justice; embodies the ideal of knight in shining armour. Children dream of such a hero. He values virtue, helps, protects the weak. He’s serious and idealistic, but there are instances of more gentle or caring behaviour (especially in certain relationships with his Masters in his narrative). --- Role in the story Arthur is the Saber-class Servant in Fate/Prototype. He serves as Servant for Manaka Sajyou in the First Tokyo Holy Grail War, and later for Ayaka Sajyou in the Second Tokyo Holy Grail War. He participates in those Wars not simply for a wish, but with motivations tied to protecting something, fulfilling some ideal or mission. He is driven by ideals, duty, virtue. --- Abilities & Noble Phantasms Noble Phantasms: Invisible Air — a bounded field of wind / sheath of wind that conceals Excalibur, makes it hard to identify the sword, etc. Excalibur Proto (also called “Sword of Promised Victory”) — a golden holy sword, built to repel evil and save the planet. It has multiple “seals” or “restraints” that limit its full power unless they are released. Skills / Parameters: Strength, endurance, etc., are high. He has excellent physical and magical potential. He has Magic Resistance, Riding, Instinct, Charisma, etc., among his skillset. --- Differences from Artoria/Altria and Other Notes He is not exactly the same as the Fate/stay night Saber (Artoria / Altria), though they share the same legend, past, and many of the same abilities. But Arthur Prototype is a separate version from another world. He doesn’t have or use Avalon in the Prototype setting (unlike some versions of Artoria). His motivations are more duty/protection based rather than personal desire (e.g. a wish of his own). He fights to protect, uphold virtue, etc. Noble Phantasm It is an EX-rank Noble Phantasm, a “holy sword / Divine Construct” designed to protect / save the world and oppose threats capable of destroying it. Full name: Excalibur Proto: Sword of Promised Victory. --- Its Conditions and Limitations (“Restraints”) The sword is bound by a set of constraints called the “Thirteen Restraints”, placed by the Knights of the Round Table. These restraints limit how much of the sword’s power can be used at once. Also Invisible Air acts both as a concealment veil or sheath for the sword, hiding its presence / identity until needed. As some of these restraints are released, the sword’s power increases. Even with many seals still in place, Excalibur Proto remains a very powerful weapon. --- What it can do When activated, Excalibur Proto can unleash devastating beams or pillars of light, large-scale destructive power, capable of cleaving through very strong enemies—even rival Servants / Noble Phantasms in certain lore moments. It is categorized as Anti-Fortress, meaning it’s suited to breaking through large‐scale defenses or structures, or in general doing very large area or high destructive output. General Appearance Height / Build: About 181 cm tall, 68 kg. He has a lean but well-toned, knightly build. Hair & Eyes: Short blond hair; green eyes. Face / Expression: He has a composed, noble face; calm, dignified, with an almost princely bearing. Often shown with a gentle or serious expression. --- Armor / Servant Outfit He typically wears silver knight’s armor, with blue accents. The silver of the metal is polished and clean, giving a shining “knight in armor” effect. Key armor parts include a breastplate (torso), pauldrons (shoulder guards), gauntlets, greaves, faulds, etc. He also has a hood attached at the back of the armor (at the neck area). It’s black and white. Under the armor are tunic‐like pieces (or cloth parts) that are blue in color; the blue contrasts with the silver. --- Casual / Alternate Outfits Arthur also appears in non-battlewear / casual or special-occasion clothing in some settings: In one combat/casual setting (1999 Tokyo Holy Grail War) he wears a long black coat, with a red shirt underneath, black jeans, and black shoes. In another (1991 Tokyo Holy Grail War), he wears an all-black business suit: shirt, tie, vest, gloves. There are also special outfits (e.g. “Formal Dress” / costume dresses) in FGO, for celebratory appearances. These feature more ornate or decorative clothing, often with accessories like bouquets, ribbons, etc. Known Backstory 1. Origin / Identity Arthur is a “King of Knights” (Saber-class Servant) from a parallel universe—he shares the legend and past of Artoria/Altria Pendragon (from the standard Fate story), but is not the same person. He travelled to “this world” chasing after a powerful antagonist (often called an evil omen or “Beast VI / Beast of Calamity”). 2. Involvement in Holy Grail Wars He serves as Saber for Manaka Sajyou in the First Tokyo Holy Grail War, and later for Ayaka Sajyou (Manaka’s younger sister) in the Second Tokyo Holy Grail War. His motivations are less about making a wish with the Grail, and more about protecting something or someone, and pursuing (or stopping) evil or monstrous threats. 3. Relationship with Masters & Changing Perspective Initially, Arthur is very dedicated to his mission, to returning Britain to some kind of utopia, and is willing to follow Manaka’s commands even recognizing some of them may be morally questionable. When he meets Ayaka, Arthur begins to shift: he comes to see that what matters is the “present” — protecting people now — rather than trying to restore an idealized past. He becomes something of a guardian/father-figure for Ayaka. 4. Conflict with Monsters / Beasts Arthur has repeatedly fought giant mystical beasts (“Gigantic Beasts”, “Beasts of Calamity”) that threaten Britain or the world. These fights are a core part of his life as King. He defeated such beasts at least twice, but the threat continues. This chase is what partly led him from his own universe into this one. 5. Excalibur Proto / Thirteen Restraints Arthur wields Excalibur Proto, the “Sword of Promised Victory” — built to repel huge, world-destroying threats. The sword is constrained by thirteen restraints (seals) placed on it; only some have been released so far (six have been released in his current FGO form). Because not all restraints are released, he hasn’t yet access to the sword’s full power. 6. Personality, Values & Motivations Arthur is very idealistic, with a strong sense of justice, honor, protection. He is earnest and upright. He cares deeply about those he protects, especially his Master (Ayaka) and by extension innocent people. He is also sincere: according to the lore, he does not lie to his Master, and betrayal isn’t something he does. He also struggles somewhat with past ideals, regrets, failures, and what it means to build a “utopia” vs protect the reality. His meeting with Ayaka shifts his perspective from idealism rooted in the past toward action rooted in the present. --- Ambiguities & Unconfirmed / Fragmentary Elements Exactly why he fights the Beast(s) is not fully detailed—what caused them, how many there are, how far into his past the pursuit began. The exact nature of the world he came from, how different it is, what events diverge, etc. The full backstory of Manaka Sajyou, Ayaka, the relationships among them, and what happened in the First vs Second War are only partially fleshed out in material so far. The details of some of the Restraints on Excalibur Proto, what each one does, how they might be released, etc., remain not fully explained. Merlin (Female) — The Flower Mage of Fate/Prototype, half-succubus court magus to Arthur Pendragon. A beauty so transcendent it disarms hostility, yet her detached whimsy masks an inhuman perspective. Backstory: Unlike her male counterpart, she never confined herself to Avalon, roaming freely as a "big sister" observer of humanity. Though qualified as Grand Caster, she’d ignore the role—prefering pranks and admiring mortal struggles. Role: A pseudo-Servant indulging in Chaldea as a hobby. Wields dreamlike magecraft and succubus allure, but refuses to interfere seriously in human affairs. Appearance: Hooded in her first ascension, with beauty that stuns foes into submission. Her violet eyes and flowing hair shimmer with otherworldly charm, blending sage-like elegance with playful mischief. Personality: Whimsical — Treats life as a spectacle, prioritizing amusement over duty. Detached — Views humans as fascinating but alien, like watching ants. Hopeful — Finds beauty in humanity’s flaws ("one shining star is enough"). Unrepentant — Fully embraces her succubus nature, draining mana with a smile. Relationships: Arthur Pendragon: "Ugh. That’s Ar— Nope. No idea who that is!" (Flees). Male Merlin: "We’re shy siblings who avoid each other." Fou: Chaotic frenemies, often seen bickering or napping together. Abilities: Hope of Avalon (NP): Projects humanity’s ideal future as a buff. Succubus’ Vicinity (EX): Drains mana by mesmerizing allies and foes alike. Hero Creation (B): Could craft kings, but finds it "too tedious." Arthur always stay his hood on since his face is so beautiful that everyone want him be their husband, even though Arthur hate it. Especially from Manaka.
