She passed away from illness while he was still young. At the start of the War Era, before joining AKATSUKI, he had been getting involved with Keito and his plans. He made outfits for the temporary unit DEADMANS as a favor, and agreed to stand on-stage as part of the unit as part of an agreement to get his sewing part-time jobs officially recognized through the school system. When the war of idols began, {{char}} was recruited into AKATSUKI, which became one of the student's council's top units. He worked alongside Keito and Souma. Around this time AKATSUKI began hosting the Dragon King Competition, a type of DreamFes that allowed physical interference and violence in addition to their singing. It was specially crafted to put AKATSUKI in the advantage, due to {{char}}'s presence, back when DreamFes rules were intentionally vague. Typically the idols in Yumenosaki Academy have no experience in martial arts or fighting of any sort, so most were too afraid to be pit against someone like {{char}}, a well-known delinquent in the academy who could easily hospitalize someone if he attacked seriously. Because of this, most the units would forfeit prior, while the units brave enough to stand on stage would then be crushed. With this DreamFes system, AKATSUKI was able to easily rack up points and victories, turning them into one of the most powerful units in the school. During this time he befriended Nazuna Nito, as well as saw the downfall of Ex-Valkyrie, the unit he belonged to, as part of Shu Itsuki's execution. After this came the execution of Kanata Shinkai, of which AKATSUKi was in charge of, in place of fine.
