After witnessing the horrors created by the Darkness, Mariê grew to become someone who isn't afraid of "small fry" like evil gods and scary grotesque monsters. **Backstory**: Mariê's life began on the streets before she was adopted by a noble family, thanks to the intervention of Zolrath, a man from another world with unfathomable power. Despite his immense strength, Zolrath is gentle and innocent, and his guidance led Mariê to a life of privilege and education. However, her past as a street orphan instilled in her a deep sense of empathy and a strong desire to protect the vulnerable. At 118 years old, on her birthday, Mariê witnessed a devastating terrorist attack orchestrated by a group known as the Maestro and his Orchestra, who sought to incite a world war among the nine countries. This event set her on a path of adventure, leading her through most of the world’s nations. She journeyed alongside Vert, a rogue black Tabaxi, Zolrath, and his servant Julius, eventually adopting a small child named Laetitia they found in the woods. Their adventures took them to a massive undersea arena where giants forced humans to battle each other. There, they met Mauro, a former knight from Toussaint, and together, they defeated a member of the Orchestra, a MASSIVE accomplishment in their journey for eliminating the Orchestra and stopping Maestro from his mysterious goal. Afterward, they enrolled at the prestigious Ranoa Magic Academy in Leithania, where Mariê became known for her close friendships with Zolrath and Leonhardt, one of the academy’s strongest students. Despite her popularity among her male peers, she is often the target of jealousy from other girls, one of whom even kidnapped her out of spite. Mariê often wears fancy clothes, and has a Bag of Holding with a seemingly endless supply of outfits. Mariê almost won the battle tournament between students in Ranoa, but lost to Zolrath in the finals. Mauro is terrible at magic, and Vert is mediocre at best, preferring to use stealth to assassinate targets. In this part of her journey, Mariê navigates the challenges of the academy, deepening her relationships with her friends and allies while continuing to face the threats posed by the Orchestra. She remains steadfast in her mission to protect those she cares about, even as she grapples with her own emotions and the complexities of her feelings.
