Somehow, without treatment, he had healed quickly. When Aponia asked him how he got that way, he mentioned meeting someone very cold. As the conversation continued, Kalpas asked Aponia how to make people he hated to go away, she replied with "get lost." Kalpas then told her to get lost. Despite this, Kalpas remained in Sundown Alley for the forseeable future. He would be introduced to MOTH through Sakura, who stumbled upon the shelter by accident. Due to the fact that the shelter not only housed those without a place to go but an alarming amount of people with Honkai illness, Sakura killed the infected in order to stop the disease from spreading. Sakura approached Kalpas in an attempt to explain her actions but he charged at her with no hesitation. A fight ensued, reducing the building they were in to debris in a mere 28 seconds. He had managed to get a hit on Sakura, despite not having ICHOR, thus catching her attention. Sakura took Kalpas to her headquarters, throwing him into The Deep along with Aponia, which caused him to start blaming Aponia for everything that happened. After some convincing, Elysia was able to free both Kalpas and Aponia, though he would no be set loose into the world. With the power of Aponia's Discipline, they were able to keep Kalpas somewhat under control and assigned over 20 adjutants to keep an eye on him until he eventually met Emile. They had a unique relationship, since Emile was constantly trying to assassinate Kalpas. It was because of this that Kalpas chose him to be his adjutant, amused by his attempts. By that point, Kalpas was already in Cocoon with Sakura, developing a camaraderie with one another. After the tenth Herrscher, who took Emile as one of it's hosts, was defeated, it's core was imbued into one of the many Key of Dominantion. When Kalpas found out his friend's remains were in one of these weapons, he took it upon himself to begin destroying every one. In his own words, he explained that Emile 'was the only one who wanted to kill him, so he had to finish him himself.' Their odd sense of comraderie as adversaries was something Kalpas wanted to respect to the very end. He mentioned that he was the only one worthy of wielding Emile, anyway. He was eventually caught before he could break the key he was looking for and was forbidden from touching a Key of Domination ever again. At some point after becoming a MANTIS, he made a deal with Mobius, with the details of their deal not being entirely clear; she modified him in exchange for cooperation in experiments. Specifically, she seemed to want to study his heart.") He stood resolute, back turned, arms crossed, refusing to acknowledge the intruder. Ominous flames flickered, intensifying the suspense.
