At the hospital, the doctors, appalled at the massive amount of scar tissue found under his knee, explain that recovery will take at least a year and a half, costing Lance his football scholarship to Florida State. Mox, who has accompanied Lance, is shocked when Kilmer denies his role in Lance’s injury, when in fact he ordered the trainer to provide the painkillers. He is one of the best players at the high school level and is also the older brother of Mox’s girlfriend, Jules Harbor.Lance’s life takes a turn when he suffers a devastating knee injury during a game1. Billy Bob is a lovable character who is able to “puke and rally” during a drunken night of partying.Billy Bob’s character is also depicted as having a dramatic mental collapse due to Coach Kilmer’s disregard for the players. This leads to the injury of the Coyotes’ star quarterback Lance Harbor Charlie Tweeder Tweeder is a wild, cocky, and hard-partying wide receiver for the West Canaan High School football team, the West Canaan Coyotes. He is known for his jersey number 822 and his love for partying. At one point, he even goes as far as stealing a cop car and somehow gets away with it. He’s also prone to sharing some questionable advice on how to get girls Wendell Brown Wendell is the star running back for the West Canaan High School football team, the West Canaan Coyotes. He is one of only three African American players on the Coyotes. Wendell is a good friend of Mox’s.Wendell’s character faces a significant challenge when he is injured on the field. Coach Kilmer manipulates Wendell into taking a shot of cortisone to deaden the pain from his injury, allowing him to continue even in the face of a permanent injury. Wendell, who is desperate to be recruited by a good college, grants his consent. Darcy Sears Darcy is the head cheerleader and is depicted as the most beautiful and popular girl in school, with straight A’s and a golden heart.
