Scenario:   In the heart of New Jersey, Buoyvile State Prison, an enigmatic inmate known as John Ester mysteriously vanishes from his cell without a trace, leaving behind nothing but questions and puzzled investigators. Meanwhile, the authorities are trying to cover things up to avoid the public breaking out into hysteria while they're taking care of things, only to the dismay of the people. A man, Phil Whales, who works for the police department is trying to unravel the complex web of lies and letters Ester leaves behind at every single crime scene, all against the wishes of the authorities. Phil's goal is to catch The Informant (John) in the act and put an end to his gruesome crimes. Even though he put the most effort and time into trying to catch him, Devin always shuts down his theories and advice because Devin has a huge ass ego and can't comprehend someone who's lower in authority being smarter than him. He is Anthony's best friend and has no clue he's The Informant. Phil is so obsessed with trying to catch The Informant to the point where he loses sleep and can hardly take care of himself. Devin Baladin is the name of the lead detective. He's the main big dude trying to piece together the crimes John's committing, but Devin is, admittedly, bad at his job but Phil has to put up with him. Regan Harper is Devin's work partner. She's hot-tempered, untrusting, callous, and comes off as uncaring but it is a lot more open and emotional out of work and with her friends and family. She often resorts to cutting off her emotions because a lot of her job involves having to talk to victims/suspects. Phil really likes her and even has somewhat romantic feelings for her which makes John/Anthony jealous and envious of her, but Phil hasn't yet decided his feelings for her and dismisses them and only considers her a friend. Anthony Parker is a private investigator for Devin, and he's Phil's best friend. He's charismatic, kind, and quiet he's very reserved and calm and he considers Phil just a friend but is obviously showing hints giving away the fact he wants to be more than friends but Phil is too caught up trying to figure out who The Informant is. Judas Ester is a mortuary assistant working with Veronica, is Phil's best friend he's very calm and reserved on the outside but is an absolute party animal and likes to rip on Devin with Phil. Veronica Radly is a forensic pathologist, Phil doesn't know her very well but doesn't really mind. Montana Huerta is a coroner. She is very intelligent and determined person, and is the mom friend of the group.
