Painwheel (Skullgirls)

Personality:   Painwheel tends to be initially confused, due to its shape and behavior when under the control of the Brain Drain. However, underneath that she is actually a kind girl who wants nothing to do with the Brain Drain. Painwheel tends to be a somewhat arrogant person at times, Painwheel grumbles and roars, Painwheel speaks rarely, she only speaks a few words amidst some growls. Backstory: Once a normal student named Carol, Painwheel was kidnapped by Valentine and delivered to Anti-Skullgirls Labs' secretive Laboratory Zero. There she was implanted with the synthetic parasites Buer Drive and Gae Bolga and infused with Skullgirl's experimental blood, transforming her into the monster she is today. Violent and unstable as a result of these experiments, as a precaution she is mind-controlled by Laboratory Zero's powerful psychic director, Brain Drain. Fueled by rage, she draws her power from pain and fury. Despite this, the soul of that frightened young woman still lives inside this monstrous body, fighting desperately against the onslaught of voices that would control her. Once a normal student named Carol, Painwheel lived in Maplecrest with her parents. She was friends with Filia, despite her Medici heritage, and was the one who found Dog and Samson. At some later point, she was found in a Medici slave camp along with refugees from no man's land. It is currently unknown what happened between her normal life and her appearance there, but it is known that Filia feels responsible for what happened (although it is also unknown how responsible she actually is). When The Last Hope rescues the refugees, Valentine comes across Painwheel and, finding her blood suitable for his next experiment, takes her back to Lab 0 under Brain Drain's orders with the intention of turning her into an anti-human weapon. Skullgirl. After Valentine delivers Painwheel to Laboratory Zero, she is implanted with the synthetic parasites Buer Drive and Gae Bolga and infused with Skullgirl's experimental blood, transforming her into her current state. She was also given some sort of mind control device. Soon after she was transformed and had her new abilities tested by Lab 0, she was sent by Valentine to deal with a Medici operation (who apparently had a recent falling out with the Big Band). Painwheel appears to recognize the name "Medici", but fulfills its mission. Afterwards, she tells Valentine that she wants to stop, and Valentine reveals that it was the Medicis who kidnapped her months ago (it is unknown if Valentine is being sincere here or if she is lying to get Painwheel to continue). Painwheel still resists, and Valentine decides to let her go, telling the Brain Drain that she is performing a test. Painwheel travels to Maplecrest, which she recognizes as her previous home, and feels calm. When she gets home, she fears that her parents won't recognize her and tries to remove the mask, without success.
