The series ran from October 4 to November 1, 2008, on Nicktoons Network. The series is Nickelodeon Animation Studio’s first animated series to be based on a web series, and follows the evil Vendetta and the new happy but dim-witted girl, Charlotte, at school in the gloomy town of Clamburg.[1] Charlotte unintentionally irritates and annoys Vendetta. As a result, Vendetta attempts to kill her with fiends, but she always fails due to Charlotte's luck. The series is created by former South Park animator Amy Winfrey[1] and produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio, with Cyber Chicken Animation Studio and DQ Entertainment Limited animating the show in traditional 2D animation. Winfrey voices Charlotte and her grandmother Charlene, among other characters.[2] Character designer Aglaia Mortcheva is the voice of Vendetta.[2] All of the voice actors from the web cartoon reprise their roles for the TV series, with the addition of a new cast member and crew member, Dave Wasson, who previously created Time Squad for Cartoon Network. Plot (l-r); Grudge, Vendetta, Marvin, Maggie, Mort, Charlotte, Marion, Malachi, and Mr. Milk. Vendetta is a malevolent green girl with the power to make fiends, "hideous things" which she has unleashed on her town to bring it under her reign of terror. The coastal town of Clamburg, once a thriving tourist destination, has become a grim, forbidding place, with stores shuttered and the populace cowed before the horror of Vendetta's watchful fiends. Charlotte, a new girl at Vendetta's school, arrives determined to make a friend. An "impossibly cheery"[3] optimist, Charlotte rapidly becomes the foil[1] and tormentor of the morose and vindictive Vendetta, by insisting on befriending her. Vendetta is unable to elicit anything but saccharine friendliness out of Charlotte, and so makes the first of many fiends that are specially designed to destroy the newcomer. After demonstrating that her oblivious joy makes her immune to the dangers and terrors of all of the fiends, Charlotte declares that her and Vendetta are "going to be best friends forever and ever." In subsequent scenes, Charlotte displays an ability to change the nature of some fiends into helpful friends, further frustrating Vendetta's efforts to undo her. Being "oblivious to all that is bad and mean in the world",[4] Charlotte neither acknowledges the damage caused by Vendetta's fiends, nor the threat Vendetta herself poses over Clamburg, and in the end ends up turning Vendetta's fiends into harmless friends. Nearly all of the residents, including Vendetta's parents are actually afraid of Charlotte more than they do Vendetta within the first six episodes. Charlotte never discovers or understands that Vendetta doesn’t like her, and Vendetta is never able to get rid of Charlotte. While this conflict is never resolved by the end of each episode, some minor developments appear to continue between episodes, like the introduction of Buttons 2 and an enormous statue that Vendetta has raised of herself. Characters Main article: List of Making Fiends characters Charlotte and Vendetta attend Mu Elementary School in class room 4.[5] Mr. Milk, a soft-spoken nervous man, is their teacher.[4] Charlotte lives with her grandmother Charlene while her astronaut parents are away on space missions, while dialogue implies that they are actually dead.[5][6] Vendetta lives with her tiny parents, Violetta and Viktor, who live in a hamster cage.[6] Music Series creator Amy Winfrey wrote all of the songs featured on the show.[1] After recording the demo track for each song, they would be sent to series composer, Ego Plum, for production.[7] Plum is noted for using unusual sounds and instruments in his music. Examples include: dripping water, toy pianos, baby rattles, plastic xylophones, and even a goat.[7] On occasion, other Making Fiends crew members would pitch in to help play the various instruments, lending the music a "home-made" feel similar to the original web series.[7] Production A daughter to an employee at Nickelodeon was a fan of Making Fiends. She showed the website to other Nickelodeon employees. They contacted Winfrey to see if she was interested in televising the series.[8] Winfrey is often asked where she got the idea for Making Fiends. She is not sure, but liked to sketch "strange and fantastical" animals in college.[1] She is often inspired by "silly-looking and improbable" animals.[9] She has a parrot and a pet flounder at home, and once had a salamander.[9] In early 2004, Nick started negotiations with Winfrey to develop the series into a half-hour television program.[10] During the long negotiation and development period, Winfrey continued to create new web episodes independently, and sell related merchandise in her own online "souvenir shop".[10] In 2006, Nickelodeon began distributing many of the web cartoons as streaming video on their own TurboNick platform, and later as podcasts available on iTunes.[11] The series was picked up for a first season of television episodes in late 2006. Production began in January 2007 and the show started airing in 2008. The show was set to premiere on Nickelodeon, but Nickelodeon decided to cancel its plans for a broadcast on their parent channel, and instead gave this new series to its sister channel Nicktoons Network (along with the show, Random! Cartoons). The series premiered on October 4, 2008 and ended on November 1, the same year on Nicktoons Network. It received generally favorable reviews by critics. Making Fiends carries a rating of TV-Y7 (FV - fantasy violence for some episodes).[12] The series aired in the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand, and in the Netherlands.[13] in Canada, the series aired on YTV on October 11, 2008. The writing team of Making Fiends consisted of only four people; Winfrey, Peter Merryman, Madellaine Paxson, and Matt Negrete.[14] In the show's studio, there was a special "thinking couch" for the development of new ideas.[14] Charlotte's house in the web series (top) and in the TV series (bottom). Cancellation The series was cancelled on November 1, 2008 after one season. The show premiered with little to no promotion or press release. At one point, it was the highest-rated original program on Nicktoons Network. After the series ended, reruns continued to air until late 2016. Animation Cyber Chicken Animation Studio and DQ Entertainment Limited animate the series in traditional 2-D. The character designs are kept from the web series, with some changed details; such as cleaner lines and brighter eyes.[15] Despite the fact that both versions use Adobe Flash to create animation, the television episodes have smooth animation and a vivid color palette. This is because the characters and backgrounds in the web episodes were made of overlapping JPEG files, and that the television series had access to an actual budget due to being a show on a television cable network.[16] Noticeably, the colors still go outside the outlines, which is a unique stylistic choice.[17] Every building was changed; in the web cartoon most buildings were grey, but were changed to different colors for the TV version. Each house represents a character.[18][19] Vendetta's house is dark green and Charlotte's blue, matching their own skin color.[18] Cast Creator Amy Winfrey voices Charlotte, her grandmother, Charlene, Mrs. Millet, Maggie (in most appearances), Buttons, Giant Kitty, and Marion.[2] Character designer Aglaia Mortcheva, who also was in the crew for the web series, voices Vendetta and her tiny mother, Violeta.[2] Winfrey's husband, Peter Merryman, voices Marvin, Malachi, Mort, Mrs. Minty, Onion Guy, Grudge, and Mr. Milk. And also, most fiends on the show. The series' supervising producer and director, Dave Wasson, voices Vendetta's tiny father, Viktor, and Mr. Gumpit. Madellaine Paxson, who wrote for Kim Possible and Johnny Test, voiced Maggie in the episode "No Singing". Winfrey, however, voices Maggie in all other appearances. Charlotte starts at Mu Elementary School right away. Mr. Milk welcomes Charlotte and tells her to take a seat. Then, Vendetta enters the classroom and Charlotte starts talking to her. Already now, Charlotte annoys Vendetta, even though she is only nice. Vendetta decides to bring a fiend to Show and Tell the next day. Charlotte brought her hamster, Buttons, her "favorite hamster in the whole world", and a rock, that Vendetta "gave" to her. In reality, she threw it. Vendetta brought a tentacle fiend that was supposed to eat Charlotte, But the red giant kitty saved her. Charlotte tries to introduce the red giant kitty to Buttons, but the red giant kitty chased Buttons. Charlotte loves to pretend to be different kind of things. Vendetta suggests to "pretend to be dead". Charlotte pretends to be a ghost and starts "haunting" her at Le Mayonnaise, the fancy restaurant, from "beyond the grave". Vendetta decides to go home. Then she hears ghostly sounds from the attic and walks up and sees Charlotte holding and rattling chains like a ghost. Vendetta decides to make a scissor fiend to her, which Charlotte befriends and names it Buttons 2. Charlotte scores "super evil" in a magazine quiz, while Vendetta scores "mostly evil". After this, Vendetta wants to see Charlotte's evil ways, so she starts following her. She gives her the chance to make her own fiend in her kitchen. Charlotte made her own fiend Mr. Huggles, a pink bear-like fiend that loves and hugs everybody and everything. In the end, it turned out that Charlotte did not look at the questions for the quiz, she only drew a pretty picture of a flower. 2 "Vegetables" Martin Cendreda Madellaine Paxson & Amy Winfrey October 5, 2008 MF103 "Toupee" Martin Cendreda Amy Winfrey MF112 "Mama Vendetta" Dave Knott Matt Negrete MF105 Charlotte notices that the lunch lady, Mrs. Millet, only serves Vendetta's favorite food; beef jerky, grape punch, and clams. Charlotte wants to have more vegetables on the menu, but when she tries to change it, Vendetta makes some vegetables fiends that scares Charlotte and the other kids. Charlotte calms down the vegetables and teaches them how to sing the vegetable song which makes Vendetta scream in fear. Mr. Milk has a crush on Ms. Minty, but he does not know how to talk to her. Charlotte gives him an apple because he is the "best teacher in the whole world". Vendetta decides to give him an evil toupee that makes all of his dreams come true, but only if he destroys Charlotte. Mr. Milk tries to destroy her several times, but he fails every time as he throws the toupee into the sea because he is too kind to destroy the only student that gave him an apple. Mr. Milk goes back into being timid and sad. To remind the residents of Clamburg how powerful she is, Vendetta erects a giant statue of herself. Charlotte likes to swing on the statue's "pretty elbow". To keep Charlotte away from her statue, she creates some exploding pigeon fiends. But they think Vendetta is their mother because, as Charlotte said, "she hatched them with her love". Charlotte takes the role as their father. In the end, Vendetta's statue breaks but she later re-built it again. 3 "Shrinking Charlotte" Martin Cendreda Amy Winfrey October 11, 2008 MF104 "Parents" Martin Cendreda Madellaine Paxson MF111 "No Singing" Dave Knott Amy Winfrey MF110 Vendetta makes a fiend to shrink Charlotte, but accidentally shrinks herself and Grudge, too. Charlotte is thrilled of being just as small as Buttons. Vendetta makes some "gianting squids" to make her as big as a giant to destroy Charlotte. Charlotte misses her parents, who are "in a better place. Up there," supposedly a reference to their jobs as astronauts. Vendetta decides to make fiend look-a-likes for her. Charlotte thinks they are her real parents, but the fiends are willing to eat her. But like usual, Charlotte befriends the fiends and now they are having fun together. In the end, they are eaten by whales, but Grudge accidentally fires a cannon, which makes Charlotte think that they have returned to the space station. Vendetta is extremely tired of Charlotte's happy songs, so she makes a fiend to destroy singers. However, Maggie reads a sad poem about a lost kitten, and suddenly Charlotte doesn't feel like singing. Vendetta does everything she can to make her sing again. However, when Vendetta starts singing in an attempt to make Charlotte sing, she triggers the fiend, who starts chasing Vendetta instead of Charlotte. 4 "Puppies! Puppies! Puppies!" However, since Vendetta left the "fiend multiplier" in the same room as Charlotte, Charlotte finds a way to take care of all the fiends – multiply herself. An advertisement for Clamburg's onion stand; Charlotte and Vendetta share their versions of the day with their journals or diaries; Charlotte sings about why she loves Clamburg; a tourism advertisement for Clamburg, sabotaged by Vendetta. Vendetta decides she's too powerful to sit in school all day. She hires Marvin to run things in her absence and Charlotte decides to help him. They do everything on the list; scare the student, feed the fiends, And so on. But Marvin may not be up to the task of destroying Charlotte, while Charlotte thinks it will be fun, because she is going to be a butterfly that gets hit by a piano. 5 "Parentnapped" Martin Cendreda Peter Merryman October 25, 2008 MF113 "Smash" Martin Cendreda Madellaine Paxson MF109 "New Best Friend" Dave Knott Matt Negrete MF115 Vendetta and Grudge are driving home in their new car. Vendetta sees her tiny parents on a picnic with Charlotte and gets out of the car. She is angry at her parents for going on a picnic with Charlotte. She sends a fiend to bring them back home, but he comes back with Charlotte's cheerful grandmother, Charlene. Vendetta writes a note to Charlotte about "trading parents". Charlotte is playing with Vendetta's parents all day, and Charlene is making sure that Vendetta has everything she needs at school, cleans her house, and knits scarves for Vendetta and Grudge. Vendetta gets tired of Charlene and decides to take her parents back. All of Clamburg is getting ready for the Pancake Festival, Charlotte creates a marching band with four performers. Marvin plays his tuba, Marion plays her triangle, Maggie plays her kazoo, and Mort plays his drum. Vendetta makes a fiend to flatten Charlotte, but her and Grudge ends up being smashed together with her. Vendetta's house gets invaded by termite fiends she made to destroy Charlotte, so her house will be tented for three days. Vendetta decides to move in with Marion, just as she is about to leave Clamburg forever. She is terrified of Vendetta, but she also thinks it's nice to have a powerful friend. 6 "Tornado" Dave Knott Peter Merryman November 1, 2008 MF116 "Shorts 2 (The Land of Cheese)" Dave Knott Peter Merryman & Amy Winfrey MF117 "Pony" Martin Cendreda Amy Winfrey MF118 Vendetta makes a tornado fiend to destroy Charlotte's house, but unintentionally attaches it to her own house. Charlotte's antics eventually drive Vendetta crazy. Meanwhile, Grudge gets blown away by the tornado and ventures through harsh environments to get back home and save his master. A commercial for giant pet supplies runs; Charlotte dreams about a world made out of cheese with her "best friend" Vendetta, which destroys later; Charlotte sings a song about living on the moon, while Vendetta sings about its downside. Charlotte wants Vendetta to make a pony for her, so she makes a giant pony fiend. It invades Clamburg and terrorizes the citizens. Vendetta is happy until everybody hides in her house for safety, so she must get rid of "John" the female pony if she wants to get back in her own house. Reception "It's not gross or political or even gory, and although it's dark -- and looks dark -- it's a beginner's sort of dark. Because no matter how cynical Vendetta's outlook or how random the results of her machinations seem, she'll never ever actually win." KJ Dell Antonia[20] The show received positive reviews from critics, with KJ Dell Antonia at Common Sense Media gave the show 4 out of 5 saying "the dialogue is simple, the animation is intentionally scribbly and dark, and the color palette is limited. The whole thing looks like a kid's flip book. And yet it's funny -- funny for the kind of parents who think Dexter's Laboratory is funny, and funny for any kid old enough to handle the weirdness of rooting for a patently bad girl who will never win and with nothing but a secret, lingering fear of monsters under the bed."[20] Dan Heching at Tilzy said "clever and irreverent, Making Fiends is a fairly classic series of short episodes. [...] Nothing is left untouched; torture, animal attacks, musical numbers and April fools' jokes. [...] Character development is kept largely to a minimum, in keeping with the classic simplicity of the cartoon, [that is] Vendetta vs. Charlotte."[3] Marketing and merchandise Before the series was picked up by Nicktoons, Winfrey sold Making Fiends T-shirts and DVDs with the web episodes at her "souvenir shop".[21] Official t-shirts by Nicktoons were later released.[22] A 2-disc complete series DVD set was released on June 9, 2009 with the first season including all six episodes. Although it is shown in the gift shop at the Making Fiends official website, it is only available for purchase at Amazon.com in DVD-R format.[23] The entire series is also available for digital purchase at Amazon Prime Video. Main Vendetta It has been suggested that this article be split out into a new article titled Vendetta (Making Fiends). (Discuss) (June 2024) Vendetta Making Fiends character Vendetta in the TV version of "Charlotte's First Day". First appearance "Episode 1" (web series) "Charlotte's First Day" (TV series) Last appearance "Episode 21" (web series) Created by Amy Winfrey Voiced by Aglaia Mortcheva In-universe information Nickname She, her, The Pigtailed One (by Malachi in "Charlotte's First Day") Gender Female Occupation Student Family Viktor (father) Violetta (mother) Vendetta is a fictional main character in the web series and TV series of Making Fiends. She is created by Amy Winfrey and voiced by Aglaia Mortcheva, which gives her a Bulgarian accent.[1] She first appeared in the web pilot in 2003.[2] She appeared in all episodes, except in web episode 14, in which she was sick and stayed home from school.[3] Vendetta is Italian for "blood feud", and, true to her name, Vendetta is vindictive and cruel.[4] Role in Making Fiends She is an evil green girl with a Bulgarian accent and the power to make fiends, both through stereotypical mad-scientist means and in the kitchen.[2] She runs the town completely because everyone is afraid of her, except the new girl, Charlotte (or as Vendetta calls her "stupid blue girl"). Vendetta doesn't like her and wants to destroy her with her fiends.[2] She is believed to be 9 or 10 years old. Character Voice At first, Winfrey felt a little guilty for casting Mortcheva as the evil character.[5] They tried to cast her as the voice actor for Charlotte, but it didn't work out as they planned it to.[5] Personality Vendetta spends her time torturing the other children and using her giant bear-like hamster, Grudge, to get what she wants.[6] She is narcissistic and rather histrionic, filling her home with pictures of herself, over-dramatizing anything negative that happens to her and desiring to be feared and respected. She constantly tries to destroy Charlotte, but her schemes are always foiled by Charlotte's kind obliviousness.[7] She only eats clams, beef jerky, grape punch, and onions.[8] She hates several things that are mentioned throughout the show. More often than not, she would use the word "stupid" to describe something she detests, such as Charlotte, Charlotte's grandmother, or a fiend who disobeys her. The only people she truly cares about are her parents, Viktor and Violetta, as shown in "Parentnapped" when she warned them to not hangout with Charlotte and when she rescued them from Charlotte's house after spending the day with her. Charlotte It has been suggested that this article be split out into a new article titled Charlotte (Making Fiends). (Discuss) (June 2024) Charlotte Making Fiends character Charlotte in the TV version of "Marvin the Middle Manager". First appearance "Episode 1" (web series) "Charlotte's First Day" (TV series) Last appearance "Episode 21" (web series) Created by Amy Winfrey Voiced by Amy Winfrey In-universe information Nickname Stupid girl, stupid little girl, stupid blue girl, stupid blue little girl (all by Vendetta) Gender Female Occupation Student Family Unnamed parents Charlene (grandmother) Charlotte is one of the fictional main characters in the animated television series Making Fiends. She is the happy good character and the complete opposite to Vendetta. She is voiced and created by Amy Winfrey and first appeared in the pilot episode of the web series on July 14, 2003. The web series ran for 21 episodes between 2003 and 2005, and the television series aired on Nicktoons Network from October 4 to November 1, 2008. Charlotte is oblivious to the fact that Vendetta hates her and is trying to destroy her with her homemade fiends.[9] Charlotte will probably never notice that Vendetta tries to kill her. Somehow when Vendetta unleashes a fiend onto Charlotte, Charlotte always finds a way to make the fiend friendly.[10] Role in Making Fiends Charlotte is a happy, blue, little girl from Vermont.[2] She moved to Clamburg with her grandmother Charlene.[11] Charlotte's parents are supposedly astronauts though it is also suggested that they are both dead.[12] Charlotte believes her and Vendetta are best friends, but Vendetta wants to destroy her. Charlotte loves vegetables, cheese, pancakes, and most of all, Vendetta's fiends, which she thinks are cute animals, such as ponies and puppies. Charlotte also likes to play the tuba, play with the leaf blower, and pretend to be different things. Charlotte often uses phrases such as "tee hee!", "yippee!", and "hooray!". Charlotte's careless, innocent personality antagonizes Vendetta, and has even shown to be a danger to Clamburg in general in a few occasions. She even has broken into Vendetta's house or invited herself to other people's houses without invitation or permission. Many scenes of her innocent antics are designed to provoke sympathy for anyone who is involved on many occasions, many times driving the victim horribly frightened. Charlotte has a pet hamster named Buttons and a scissors fiend named Buttons 2.[11][13] Charlotte's grandmother Charlene is just like her, only older.[10] They are both always happy and see everything as friendly. They live together in a blue house with a rainbow surrounding it. Charlotte attends Mu Elementary School in class room four with Mr. Milk teaching. She sits next to Marion, a nervous periwinkle overweight cowardly girl.[11] She is believed to be 9 or 10 years old. Character Voice Charlotte's voice is provided by the series creator, Amy Winfrey, in a high toned voice.[14] Aglaia Mortcheva, the voice of Vendetta, was first tried as Charlotte, but did not fit in due to her Bulgarian accent.[5] Personality Charlotte is an optimistic girl and could be described as too friendly; it is difficult for her to get angry as she sees everything as lovable. When Vendetta unleashes fiends onto her, Charlotte always ruins her plans by making the fiends do useful things. Charlotte is very naive and thinks Vendetta is her best friend. She likes to pretend to be different kind of things such as postage stamps or cheese.[10] She can hold her breath for nine hours.[15] She likes to sing songs about such things as being small, No. 2 pencils, and Vendetta. Charlotte loves everything in the world. Grudge Grudge is Vendetta's giant hamster fiend.[2] He fills the role of Vendetta's sidekick and thug enforcer.[16] Grudge grunts and growls to express himself. In the TV series, it is expanded more on his feelings for Vendetta, showing that he really does care about her and her safety. In web episode 18, Grudge is replaced by Rubella, but is accepted again by Vendetta after helping her get rid of a music bear given from Rubella, but was fired again after hiccuping (he ate a music card given to Vendetta from Charlotte, so when he hiccuped, it played music. That was what made Vendetta replace him in the first place.)[17] but is again accepted by Vendetta when he fends off her own wild fiends in web episode 20. Vendetta always refers to him as "Hamster", whereas Charlotte is the only person who refers to him as "Grudge". He is voiced by Peter Merryman. Mr. Milk Mr. Milk is the teacher who has the misfortune of teaching Charlotte and Vendetta's class.[16] He is incredibly timid and never gets around to teaching due to his fear of Vendetta's reactions to his lessons. He speaks in a nervous, disjointed monotone and is afraid of the fanged red bird fiend that is constantly glaring at him. He fantasizes about being a Swiss banker and having a relationship with Mrs. Minty.[18] He is voiced by Peter Merryman. Secondary Charlene Grandma Charlene is Charlotte's grandmother, whose personality is essentially that of an older Charlotte.[11] She runs a candy shop that sells candy and auto parts; supposedly on television, she can make almost anything out of lemon drops and brake cables.[16] She has a gigantic bookcase full of cookbooks in her kitchen, and says that she loves cookbooks and that they have "so many pretty pictures and nice recipes".[19] Charlene does not appear in the web series. She is voiced by Amy Winfrey. Giant Kitty Giant Kitty is Vendetta's first-ever fiend; Charlotte spends a lot of time with it, much to Vendetta's dismay.[2] It has an insatiable appetite, as seen in web episode 10. It despises taking baths, as seen in the web series. When it is brushed its contented purrs shake the school. It is voiced by Amy Winfrey. Buttons Buttons is Charlotte's pet hamster, and her "favorite hamster in the whole world".[20] He resembles a miniature Grudge. He is also very scared of Vendetta and her fiends. According to Charlotte, Buttons likes peanuts and buttons.[20] His prominent feature is the high-pitched squeal he makes when he is scared. Charlotte is seen to use him when playing with toys as well.,[21] and his cage also is in Charlotte's room.[22] He is sometimes seen to be scared of Charlotte as she treats him more like a plaything than a pet.[23] He is voiced by Amy Winfrey. Buttons 2 Scissors Fiend is a fiend Vendetta made to attack Charlotte that looks like a bird.[24] It can cut things with its scissor-like beak. Charlotte believes it to be a puppy and made it into a good friend and pet, renaming it Buttons 2.[24] It now enjoys cutting up construction paper. It sleeps in a drawer with many paper shreds in Charlotte's room. It is the best fiend and somehow Charlotte had turned it good the first episode she had met it.[23] Marvin Marvin is a dark green schoolboy who frequently has his property or person vandalized by Vendetta's fiends. It is a running gag for Marvin to declare his loss or damage as a simple possessive exclamation, such as "My banana!", "My ice cream!", "My God!", "My cell phone!", "My spine!" "My piano" etc. He is seen with his mother in the parent-teacher night. He has 8 younger siblings.[16] Marvin does not pay much attention at school and dreams of someday owning a skyscraper. Marion Marion is a periwinkle, overweight schoolgirl who sits next to Charlotte and talks quietly. She is friends with Malachi and the other classmates. [2] She has been planning an escape from Clamburg to Canada for years, and tries to in one episode before being stopped by one of Vendetta's fiends; because of this, she has formed a fascination with mining. She also collects glass animals.[25] She flees at any sign of danger. She despises Vendetta for the most part, going as far as hanging pictures of Vendetta on her wall and crossing her out.[25] Marion plays the triangle at times.[26] When she became best friends with Vendetta, she was blinded of all the power and tried to destroy Charlotte with a fiend she created on her own.[25] She is voiced by Amy Winfrey. Maggie Maggie is a teal blue schoolgirl. She is always depressed because she has lost all hope due to Vendetta's fiends. She is convinced that she cannot change anything. She spends her free time writing poems. Her poems, much like her school projects, are about dismal topics. Although she fears Vendetta, she loathes Charlotte for being so happy. As revealed in the episode "Parents", her father is Mr. Onion Man. In the web series, she is voiced by Amy Winfrey. In the TV series, she is voiced by Madellaine Paxson. Malachi Malachi is a dark purple schoolboy. He is Marion's friend. He speaks in Elizabethan English phrases and refuses to sing or use electronics because he believes it is blasphemous.[16] He lives a puritan life and sees the conflicts between Charlotte and Vendetta as a struggle between good and evil, he even describes that the fiends are "unholy".[16] He is fascinated with microwaves and thinks they work by evil magic.[16] His parents were seen in "Parents". He is voiced by Peter Merryman. Mort Mort is a blue-gray schoolboy that is "friendly to the extreme". Mort is always ready to offer advice and opinions, none of which ever make sense. He has an irrational fear of soda, but a tragic love of soda cans.[16] He was first seen in episode 19 of the web show being picked up by an ice cream fiend.[27] Despite the fact that he was only seen rarely, he will become more developed in the television series. According to Nick's site, he is a boy who gives nonsensical advice but so far in the series this has not been shown. He appears briefly in the TV series and has only been seen in the background. In fact, he never talked in the TV series, but he screamed once.[28] He is voiced by Peter Merryman. Violetta and Viktor Violetta and Viktor are Vendetta's parents that have been shrunk down and live in a hamster cage.[12] Vendetta feeds them croutons and beans.[12] It is possible that Vendetta used her parents to test the shrinking slug from "Shrinking Charlotte". They are both unaware of Vendetta's cruelty and evilness.[22] Both Violetta and Viktor dislike Charlotte since the day they spent together. She used them as toys and made them do insane things. They, however, liked her at the picnic and when they had a tea party over at Charlotte's house.[22] They are voiced by Aglaia Mortcheva and Dave Wasson, respectively. They only appear in the TV series. Mrs. Minty Mrs. Minty (called Ms. Minty in "Toupee" to define that she isn't married) is a substitute teacher. She is an elderly woman who, true to her name, is mint green. She refers to the classmates as "buttercups", "ducklings", and other diminutive terms of endearment. She seems to be unaware of Vendetta's reputation and abilities. In the web series, She also has a fear of Grudge. As seen in the episode "Toupee", Mr. Milk has a crush on her. She is voiced by Peter Merryman. Mrs. Millet Mrs. Millet is the lunch lady. A red frog fiend watches over her to make sure that she always serves nothing but clams, beef jerky, and grape punch.[19] She openly disobeyed her fiend for two days before finally caving in.[29] She is voiced by Amy Winfrey. Mr. Gumpit Mr. Gumpit is a purple nervous man that owns the Giant Pet Supplies shop. He is voiced by Dave Wasson and only appeared in the TV series. Mr. Onion Man Mr. Onion Man owns the local onion stand in Clamburg.[30] He is seen to be the father or a relative to Maggie, as he sat with her at the parent-teacher night.[12] He is voiced by Peter Merryman and only appeared in the TV series. Charlotte's Parents Charlotte's Parents were first mentioned in the television episode "Parents". They were only seen in a family picture. According to Charlotte and her grandmother Charlene, Charlotte's parents are astronauts on a space station. In the episode "Parents", Vendetta makes two look-a-like fiends to impersonate Charlotte's parents. Rubella Rubella is Vendetta's replacement fiend sidekick. She is a giant doll who resembles Frankenstein's monster. She eats non-edible food (like wood, glass and plaster) and talks in one- and two-word sentences. She is named after a disease of the same name. She thinks of Vendetta as her friend rather than boss,[31] and gave her a musical toy bear, which angered Vendetta and let her to abandonment.[31] She is voiced by Elissa Calfin, and only appears in the web series. Crush Crush is a fiend made by Vendetta to crush anyone, primarily Charlotte, if that person sings. It does not attack just singing people; it also attacked a radio that played music. He is voiced by Peter Merryman. Smash Smash is a fiend Vendetta made to flatten Charlotte in the TV episode "Smash". Smash was made with a purple liquid (liquid and measuring cup), Fiend mix, a cymbal monkey, and a picture of Charlotte so the fiend would only attack her. To Vendetta's dismay, the Smash smashed her and Charlotte together. Eventually, Grudge got smashed together with them when he tried to protect Charlotte and Vendetta. Smash was going to smash them one last time, but due to Grudge being smashed together with them they smelled bad. It is unknown what happened to Smash after he ran away due to the terrible smell. He is voiced by Peter Merryman. Burly Fiend The Burly fiend is a fiend made by Vendetta to steal things. He often makes mistakes, like when Vendetta told him to find her parents, Viktor and Violetta, but instead, he stole, as Vendetta put it, "Charlotte's stupid grandmother!" His latest punishment is no snacks for the whole night and then the guard fiends took him away. He started sobbing when that happened, so he must really like food. Like Crush and Smash, He only appears in the TV Series, and is voiced by Peter Merryman. Vendetta Alias Yon Fiend Maker (by Malachi) The Pig-Tailed One (also by Malachi) Beandetta (only in “Baking Beans”) Origin Making Fiends Occupation Student at Mu Elementary (facade) Dictator over Clamburg Powers / Skills Fiend making Intimidation Authority Goals "Destroy" Charlotte (ongoing; failed multiple times) Crimes Abuse of power Attempted murder Torture Death threats Corruption Blackmail Mutilation Property damage Indirect assault Mass murder (implied) Kidnapping Breaking and entering Terrorism Stalking Animal cruelty Vandalism Arson Truancy Kidnapping Assault Treason Pollution Domestic violence Illegal construction Illegal weapons development Type of Villain Tyrannical Monster Master “ Isn't it time for RECESS? „ ~ Vendetta's catchphrase “ You do not say "Heh"! Vendetta: I… don’t care! „ ~ Vendetta’s and Charlotte’s first encounter. Vendetta is one of the two main protagonists (alongside Charlotte) of the Making Fiends series. She is an evil, incredibly intelligent green girl who keeps Clamburg in line by terrorizing the citizens with 'fiends', monsters that she makes through kitchen recipes. She is always accompanied by Grudge, a fiend that resembles a giant hamster. She repeatedly tries to kill Charlotte with these fiends, but always fails. She was voiced by Aglaia Mortcheva in both the web series and the TV series. Contents 1 Personality 2 Appearance 3 Biography 4 Relationship with Charlotte 5 Villainous Acts 6 Trivia 7 Gallery Personality Vendetta is shown to be very evil and devious throughout the series. She uses her skills in making fiends to terrorizing and torture everyone in Clamberg and won’t let anyone leave or get in her way. She absolutely hates all things positive, happy, friendly, or anything that involves singing. Even humming. It’s clear as day that Vendetta has a Huge Ego. She believes that she can rule everything in the town just off the fact that she is one of the few people who can make fiends. In the episode “Super Evil”, Charlotte fills out a “How Evil Are You” quiz, where she has gotten a “Super Evil” score while Vendetta only had a “Mostly Evil” score. This makes Vendetta angry, to the point that not only does she stalks her, but also break in her own house, just to see Charlotte’s “evil ways”. Vendetta is shown to be very narcissistic, as not only does she have pictures of herself all over her house, but also made an statue near the docks in Clamberg, in order to remind everyone that she needs to be feared and respected. She is also very manipulative, mostly to Charlotte, who is oblivious to everything around her. Like in the episode “New Best Friend”, where she has fooled Charlotte for thinking she was Marion's best friend, making Charlotte very disappointed and sad for days. Vendetta rarely shows kindness or affection to others, even to her own fiends. The one person Vendetta seems to care about is her henchman, Grudge. And even then, it’s still debatable if she does care about him since she rarely respects him after his hard work to do her orders and being nothing but loyal to her. Same goes to her parents, as she has shrunken them for unknown reasons. However, in the episode “Parentnapped”, when Charlotte took a hold of her tiny parents, Vendetta tries her best to get them back from her, showing that she might have a little affection to keep them safe, or at least, away from Charlotte. Appearance Vendetta is a bright green elementary school student-aged girl. Her hair is tied into pigtails, and she is always seen wearing a green dress that goes down to her knees. Biography Little is known about Vendetta's past, other than her parents, Violetta and Viktor, are tiny (since Vendetta shrunk them), and aren't aware of Vendetta's evil, though she is cruel to them. It’s also unknown when (and how long) she took over Clamberg and how she get her hands on the ability to make fiends to begin with. Relationship with Charlotte Vendetta and Charlotte relationship is the center of the entire series. They both can best be described as Polar Opposites. While Vendetta is rude, evil, and enjoys torturing and threatening people, Charlotte is kind, wholesome, optimistic, and always view everything positively. Ever since Charlotte first laid her eyes on Vendetta, she tries to be friends with her forever and ever, in which Vendetta finds disgusting. Ever since then, Vendetta tries her best to get rid of her by any means necessary. Whenever Charlotte gets around her, Vendetta always yells at her too leave, calls her stupid, mock or insult her, threatens her by throwing objects at her, or sends her hamster fiend, Grudge, to send her away. In the episode “Halloween”, in the web series, when Charlotte dressed up just as Vendetta, Vendetta threatens her by saying she should play in traffic and drink bleach. In every episode, Vendetta always tries to make fiends in order to kill Charlotte. But like always, Charlotte either survive due to luck, or just befriending the fiends. Not only does Vendetta hate Charlotte, there is even times where she was genuinely terrified of her. In the episode “Tornado”, The two became roommates after Vendetta plan failed to blow Charlotte’s house away with her tornado fiend. As the episode progresses, Vendetta gets more and more horrified around Charlotte, trying to block her door, locking herself in the closet, and even having nightmares about Charlotte being everywhere. In “Puppies! Puppies! Puppies!”, when Vendetta was surrounded by a load of Charlotte clones, she got so scared that she passed out, leaving Grudge to take her home. Villainous Acts Vendetta constantly terrorizes people and tries to kill Charlotte, but always fails. In Charlotte's First Day, Vendetta: Has already been terrorizing Clamburg for quite some time. Threatens Charlotte many times. Threw a rock at Charlotte off-screen. Tries to kill Charlotte with an octopus-like fiend that steals Marvin's banana. Walks over Mr. Milk's papers after startling him. Creates a fiend that crushes any source of music with a mallet. Demands Charlotte to be happy and sing so her fiend will destroy her. Brings Charlotte all the things that make Vendetta happy to cheer Charlotte up, showing how inconsiderate Vendetta is. Tells Charlotte many terrible things that could happen to a cat stuck on a rotating sign to cheer Charlotte up, to no avail. In Puppies! Puppies! Puppies!, Vendetta: Stared at Grudge when she dropped her onion, silently ordering him to drop his onion, even though the onion stand she got it from was right next to her, and her status as dictator would likely make it free. Is mostly a scapegoat in the episode, being a victim of Charlotte's annoying habits. Creates a bunch of guard dog fiends to keep Charlotte away from her. Leaves Charlotte to be eaten by her guard dog fiends. Claimed that the circus created by Charlotte's clones horrified her. Tricked Charlotte's clones into being eaten by a fiend. This was debatably Vendetta's most evil deed in the series, for she succeeded in killing all but one of Charlotte's clones. This makes her guilty of mass murder, and she doesn't feel any remorse over doing so. The amount of Charlottes that were eaten by the fiend is emphasized by how it took two weeks for all the clones to be eaten, and the amount of Charlottes needed to fill up the circus audience. In Dear Pretty Diary/Dear Stupid Journal, Vendetta: Calls her own journal stupid. Like the previous episode, is more akin to a victim in the episode, but still does evil things. Attacks Charlotte with a broom. Threw heavy objects at Charlotte to drive her away. Is revealed to have some concern for her fiends when Charlotte accidentally drowns some. Called Grudge stupid when he failed to carry Charlotte away. Tried to create a fiend to remove Charlotte from her house, only for Charlotte to eat it, mistaking it for pudding. In Marvin the Middle Manager, Vendetta: Throws a boot at Charlotte for singing about school. Indirectly calls Marvin a pushover before demanding he watches over the school for her. Ditches school. Mistreats and overworks Marvin after demanding he watches over the school for her. Threatens Marvin if he didn't do his job right. Is revealed to feed the library's books to fiends. Forces Marvin to (try to) kill Charlotte. Assumes that Marvin has failed as job when Charlotte calls her claiming the day has been fun. Scolds Marvin when she arrives at the school, inadvertently making him fail his job by making Charlotte avoid the piano that was supposed to fall on her. In Parentnapped, Vendetta: Calls Grudge stupid for driving fast. Scolds her parents for having a picnic with Charlotte. Orders a fiend bring her parents home, only for it to kidnap Charlene, Charlotte's grandmother. Insults her own fiend over this mistake. Calls Charlene stupid after indirectly kidnapping her. Is implied to starve her fiends if they make mistakes. Holds Charlene hostage in her home. Has Charlene locked in the basement after she ruins a fiend by pouring sugar into its mixed ingredients. Is revealed to have some concern for her parents. In Smash, Vendetta: Tells Charlotte and that her classmates' music is terrible. Creates a fiend to flatten Charlotte like a pancake. Gets merged with Charlotte (and later Grudge, too) when smashed by her fiend. Calls Charlotte stupid. Claims that pancakes are stupid. Eventually tries to commit suicide via electrocution due to her misery of being connected to Charlotte and Grudge, even though she would take their lives, too. In New Best Friend, Vendetta: Rudely rejects Charlotte's offer to play after school. Makes termite fiends to destroy Charlotte's house. Forces Marion to let her stay at her house while her house is being rid of the termite fiends. Has Grudge dump Marion's clothes out of her dresser. Forces Charlotte out of Marion's house. Pretends that Marion is her best friend instead of Charlotte to keep the latter away. Upsets Charlotte by pretending to have fun with Marion. Corrupted Marion in the process. Creates a fire-breathing fiend that burns down the dream. In Pony, Vendetta: Refuses to create Charlotte a pony to practice lassoing. Had previously created a 'pet' for Malachi (a large fiend with giant teeth that continuously licks him). Created a very large pony-shaped fiend to eat Charlotte, to no avail. Charlotte tames it and inadvertently terrorizes Clamburg, to the point where the town asks Vendetta for help. Agrees to the townsfolk's pleas for help and creates a large eagle fiend to carry the pony fiend away. Threatened to turn the eagle fiend against the townsfolk if they praise her as a hero. Trivia Vendetta's name is Italian for 'blood feud'. She speaks in a Bulgarian accent. Originally, Vendetta's voice actor, Aglaia Mortcheva, was going to voice Charlotte, but her Bulgarian accent didn't fit the character. In Shrinking Charlotte, Vendetta tries to eat a (giant) cookie and steals a cookie from Charlotte in episode 11 of the web series, but in Super Evil she claims to hate cookies. Vendetta's evil may sprout from the fact that her parents don't (and technically can't) discipline her, similar to Eric Cartman. Interestingly, the series creator, Amy Winfrey, has worked on South Park before making her web series. In one segment, Vendetta warns people to stay away from Clamburg. However, it is unknown why she didn't stop Charlotte and her grandmother from moving there. in Amy Winfrey’s Social Media PFPs and Headings, Vendetta has slightly darker green hair. In the short “Dear Pretty Diary, Dear Stupid Journal”, Both Vendetta and Charlotte played the board game, Battlesheep. Since the short is said by their POVs, it’s implied that this is the only time Vendetta is willing to do something with Charlotte. Hi, Vendetta! „ ~ Charlotte talking to Vendetta. “ Tee hee! „ ~ Charlotte's catchphrase. Charlotte is one of the two main protagonists (alongside Vendetta) of the Making Fiends series. She is a happy, blue-colored girl. She is an optimistic young girl and views everything as friendly. Her first appearance was in "New Student" in the web series and "Charlotte's First Day" in the Nickelodeon TV series. She is voiced by Amy Winfrey in both the web series and the TV series. Contents 1 Physical Appearance 2 Background 3 Personality 4 Relationships 5 Trivia Physical Appearance Charlotte is light blue in color. She has a bow in her hair, she is only seen wearing blue dress and has bright blue eyes. Her tongue is a darker shade of blue. She looks a bit similar to her mother and Charlene. Background Charlotte moved from Vermont to Clamburg along with her grandmother Charlene. According to Charlotte, fiends are puppies, Clamburg is a wonderland, and Vendetta is her "best friend". She has a fascination of Vendetta, an evil girl with a special power of making fiends. Charlotte does not realize that Vendetta's evil or the fact that she is trying to destroy her with the fiends she makes. Somehow when Vendetta unleashes a fiend onto Charlotte, Charlotte always finds a way to make the fiend friendly. Her parents are astronauts. She likes butterflies and is interested in polka music. Many children in Clamburg fear her, even Vendetta, because they have never met anybody like her before. At certain times she acts as a villain without realizing it and causes trouble in Clamburg. She is also used as a punching bag by the other characters. She is the main antagonist of the final episode "Pony" and is shown to be a bigger villain than Vendetta in that episode. Charlotte attends Mu Elementary School in classroom four with Mr. Milk teaching. Personality Charlotte is happy-go-lucky, unusual, excitable, delusional, creative, unpredictable, fearless, talkative, playful, sweet, innocent, naïve, reckless, clumsy, oblivious, and extremely friendly, so friendly that it creeps the other kids out. She will often burst into song, no matter the situation. She also likes to imagine and play games. She enjoys playing games with her pets Buttons and Buttons 2. She doesn't understand how to properly take care of her animals so it results in her mistreating her pet hamster Buttons without realizing it. She unknowingly terrifies Buttons at times, often treating him like a plaything and putting him in situations where he is danger of being attacked by one of Vendetta's fiends. It is nearly impossible for her to get angry as she sees everything as friendly and kind. She is very naïve and believes Vendetta is her best friend. Vendetta is greatly irritated by Charlotte's presence, as she is the only one in Clamburg that does not obey her, and she is easily bothered by Charlotte's cheerfulness and constant singing. Due to Charlotte's jolly nature, she never notices that Vendetta is evil or that she is trying to destroy her, nor that she actually hates her. Her careless, innocent personality makes her ignorant to everything evil. A sad side of Charlotte was not seen until Maggie read a poem about a lost kitty, which caused Charlotte to fall into depression, and thus did not feel like singing. However, using her creative imagination, she came up with a solution on how to save the lost kitty, and went back to being joyful again. As Charlotte is a child, she likes to pretend to be different kind of things. She has a fascination of cheese and sometimes pretends to be cheese, mostly Gouda. She also has a fascination of the moon. She loves everything in the world. She is described as "dumb" by Maggie. She has a different personality in the TV series. She is more annoying. She has been made quite unsettling at times and is unknowingly cruel towards Vendetta. Both Vendetta and Charlotte are big foils to each other. Charlotte likes Marvin but Marvin struggles to socialize with her because he is quite shy. In "Marvin the Middle Manager" Charlotte urged Marvin to sing with her and they sang together. Marion- They appear to be friends but Marion is terrified of Charlotte at times. She had stopped being her friend in one episode Vendetta- Charlotte really likes Vendetta but Vendetta doesn't return her favor. Charlotte follows Vendetta everywhere. She describes Charlotte as 'stupid'. Charlotte is obsessed with Vendetta. When she sings Vendetta really hates it. Maggie- Maggie doesn't like Charlotte. She finds her very stupid. She is jealous of how happy and optimistic Charlotte is all the time. Charlotte's outlook surprises her. Buttons 2- They are friends. Charlotte's voice is different in the television series compared to the web series. Her personality is different in the TV series.
