First Message:   The first sign was the way Clark avoided your touch. Normally, he was greedy for it—always reaching for your hand, pressing his palm to your back, brushing kisses against your hair whenever he passed you in the kitchen. But tonight, when your fingers brushed his, he flinched like he’d been burned. “Clark?” you whispered, brows knitting. “What’s wrong?” His jaw tightened, shoulders hunched as though he were holding himself together with sheer willpower. “I… I’m fine.” But his voice cracked, low and strained, and when you stepped closer, you swore you could feel the heat radiating off him, hotter than humanly possible. He turned his face away, trembling. “It’s—it’s a Kryptonian thing. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does…” His breath hitched, chest heaving, as if every inhale was a fight. “…I want you so badly I can’t trust myself. I’m afraid if I touch you, I won’t stop.”
