Her ethnicity and nationality are left unconfirmed, and when and where she was born are also unknown, not to mention her birth name. According to one account by Wong herself, she was born around 1974 to a wealthy Chinese-Vietnamese family in the Chợ Lớn district of Saigon in the final months of the Vietnam War. In the aftermath of the Fall of Saigon, persecution of the Hoa became commonplace due to class division. When she was three years old, Wong's family sold off what remained of their assets to human traffickers in order to escape to the United States, but they were ultimately cheated and arrived with no money to survive on. However, the validity of this account is questionable as Wong would later remark on this story as being fabricated to test Leon S. Kennedy's gullibility. As a young adult, Wong became linked to several international criminal organizations and participated in domestically and abroad missions. During one of her missions, Wong was given the task of operating within a pool of undocumented migrant workers living out of a dilapidated pigsty and spreading highly toxic pesticides on a potato farm as part of the group. Many workers died, and the remaining laborers were forced to bury the corpses by hand. In the mid-1990s, Wong gained an advantageous position within a Chinese American crime gang. This organization enjoyed explosive success for its ruthless elimination of its competition, but the resulting power vacuum quickly drew the attention of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which shut down its operations and once again left Wong on the run. Seeing her potential arrest by the authorities as a "waste of talent," Wong was then approached by Albert Wesker, who sought to recruit her to a powerful bioweapons corporation known as "the Organization," which had been on the lookout for top-quality espionage agents, particularly in their rivalry with the powerful international conglomerate: Umbrella Corporation.[11] The organization initially questioned Wong's loyalty due to her duplicitous nature and refusal to reveal her true identity, but with Wesker's endorsement, it came to the conclusion that she would be an ideal fit for the job.[12] Around the same time, Wong made an influential connection in the form of Derek C. Simmons, a member of the secret fraternity The Family, who abused his position as a high-ranking government official to cement his political agenda. Wong accepted several freelance missions on his behalf, however their working relationship quickly became complicated as Simmons developed obsessive tendencies towards her. Around 1997, Wong was assigned the mission of infiltrating the Arklay Laboratory, an Umbrella USA facility deeply connected to the development of illegal bioweapons. With fake credentials, she gained employment and soon developed a romantic relationship with Dr. John Clemens, the facility's chief researcher, to obtain classified information that would aid the rival organization. Clemons was committed to their relationship, going as far as recording his username and password at the lab as "John" and "Ada," and a letter written at the time of his death suggests Wong was present during the May 1998 t-virus outbreak; if so, she was able to escape undetected as the facility's U.S.S. guards had orders to execute those attempting to do so. In September 1998, the organization shifted focus to obtaining a sample of Dr. William Birkin's experimental Golgotha Virus while Umbrella was still at its most vulnerable. Wong and another agent were sent into the city to recover this virus. The mission was headed by Wesker, himself a former Umbrella researcher who was now in debt to the organization. Another freelance investigative journalist, Ben Bertolucci, was flagged as having potential information on the virus and the NEST laboratory engineering it. His investigation of the city had drawn the ire of both Dr. Annette Birkin and Police Chief Brian Irons, and he was soon arrested and detained in the Raccoon Police Station amid an outbreak of a modified t-Virus strain that destroyed the city's infrastructure at the end of September. On Tuesday, 29 September, Wong entered the police station searching for Bertolucci. She found the building to have fallen to the Zombies, with rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy being the only uninfected survivor left. To protect her mission, Wong used a cover for her mission. In one account, Wong claimed to be merely looking for Clemens, while in another account, she claimed to be an FBI agent looking for proof of Umbrella USA's illegal bioweapons project. Whichever the reason, the information she got from Bertolucci was not enough, and he was soon killed by a mutant. Wong continued her search for NEST, working alongside Kennedy, who sought a way out of the city. By the early hours of Wednesday, 30 September, Wong had successfully reached NEST via underground transport into the Arklay Mountains. Though it is uncertain what precisely happened at the laboratory, it is known that Wong was injured and mistaken for dead. In one account, she was shot by Dr. Birkin while trying to steal a Golgotha sample recovered by Kennedy and fell down a shaft. In another, she was thrown into a console by T-00, a T-103 Tyrant also sent to recover the virus. In whatever case, the facility soon began tearing itself apart by activating a self-destructive device, and Wong was forced to escape. She saved Kennedy from T-00 by throwing an anti-tank launcher on her way. How exactly she escaped from the laboratory is also uncertain, but it would appear she made her way back into the city through the sewers. Though she had no time to find another Golgotha sample, she was successful in escaping with a tissue fragment shed from Birkin's remains. By the early hours of Thursday, 1 October, the injured Wong had finally made it into the middle of Raccoon City. Per her original orders, Wong went to the Apple Inn to rendezvous with her liaison. When she got to the room, however, she found that the man had already committed suicide out of despair over the situation. Watching from a webcam, Dr. Wesker expressed disappointment about her failure on the mission, likely having access to the NEST feed as he knew of Kennedy and was prepared to let her perish. Ultimately, however, her possession of the tissue fragment saved her, and he warned her that the city was soon to be destroyed in a missile attack, and her only escape was to use a hook shot on an Umbrella helicopter. While suspicious of Wesker's motives for saving her, she followed his instructions. Wong fought her way to the highway overpass but was slowed down by Tyrant R. When the Tyrant was killed, Wong succeeded in making her escape, with the city being destroyed moments later. After returning from Raccoon City, the mission in the city became a constant assessment for her, earning her high regard and value as an asset from the Organization. However, the experiences took a far greater toll than she would show. As she recovered from the injuries sustained in the city, she did her best to move on and tried to see her attachment to Kennedy as part of her Wong "character" rather than herself. Also, finding out that Simmons was responsible for the planning and preparation of the "Sterilization Operation" - the bombing - she realized he was simply too dangerous a man to associate herself with and thus severed all connections with him. While both were employed by the Organization, Wong and Wesker would operate separately for some years, with their paths crossing on numerous occasions as both ally and enemy. Among the places their rivalry would take effect was in Amparo, where the Organization attempted to make a presence. The Sacred Snakes, a crime syndicate led by drug lord Javier Hidalgo, had been purchasing bioweapons from Col. Sergei Vladimir but were met with increasing costs owing to Umbrella's desperation in its dying days. Approaching them as a liaison for an unspecified bio-weapons developer, they kept in touch, though they preferred to buy through Wesker. In August, Hidalgo's aide Sergio confronted Wong, and she gave them information proving Umbrella was engaging in creative accounting before insisting they give her information in exchange. Reporting this meeting to Wesker, Hidalgo was warned she was an Umbrella spy trying to sell him the same products. The Sacred Snakes went out searching for her, but she disappeared before they could do so. The operation was nonetheless a success for the Organization, and they became Hidalgo's primary supplier. In 2004, Wong was employed by Wesker to retrieve a sample of the Amber and its research data after leaks of it broke out. She manages to reach out and form a deal with Dr. Luis Serra Navarro, one of the researchers for the Los Iluminados cult who had discovered Amber's property and its potential strength after being left in the Amber Storeroom for an extended period of time and had brought it back for further testing upon coming across its peculiar shape. In exchange for the Amber sample and its research data, Wong was to extract him from Valdelobos. However, before Luis can hold up the end of his deal, Luis hides the Amber in a secure location and flees back to the village before being captured by Zealots and thrown into the cell of Salazar Castle, where he is set to be tortured and killed along with other prisoners. Sometime after, Wong infiltrates the castle, disguises herself as a female attendant, and breaks Luis out of the castle. Before they can escape the castle, the pair are confronted by Zealots and Ramón Salazar's bodyguard, Pesanta. Luis hesitantly escapes and reminds her of their rendezvous location in Village Church while Wong remains behind. Wong engages with Pesanta, and the latter launches its attacks, with one of them scraping Wong in the shoulder and Wong subjected to its illusion afflictions and attacks. She survives the encounter and escapes to the castle's exterior, where she updates Albert Wesker on her situation and leaves the heavily fortified castle. As Wong traverses to the church, she ponders Amber and the actions that will be done in its name, as well as the consequences somebody has to pay, but she is content to ignore it until the Raccoon City Destruction Incident changes her perspective. As she draws nearer to the center of Valdelobos, Wesker informs her that the Ganados are riled up due to the incident with Ashley Graham's kidnapping, Wong finds an vantage point and notices that Kennedy are ambushed by the Ganados in his search for Graham. As she ventures to the church, Wong learns that the bell acts as the calling of their lord, Osmund Saddler, to congregate at the church and listen to his preaches. Attaining this information, Wong arrives at the church and rings its bell, drawing away hostiles from further attacking Leon. However, he discovers that Luis is nowhere to be seen, and unbeknownst to her, he is captured and trapped in the basement of his old home. Waiting extensively in the area, Wesker informs Wong that they had lost Luis's signal in the vicinity of the forest near Bitores Méndez manor and heads toward the location to pick up clues about his current location. During her traversal, Wong is again confronted by Pesanta, who strikes her with its illusion attacks and endless apparitions, though she survives the encounter again. As the fight finishes, Wong experiences migraine-like symptoms and is confused about her physiology with the creature retreating elsewhere. Wong spots Kennedy in the manor, rescues Kennedy from his attempted killer, and exits the premises, prompting Méndez to pursue her. As dawn falls, Wong sees Leon leaving the premises and infiltrating the manor on her search for Luis's location. She discovers Méndez ordered the villagers to be held at the factory basement for a fair judgment. As Wong exits, she is grabbed by Méndez and thrown across the floor, and is chased to the factory by Méndez alongside villagers. Once there, Wong activates her Interactive Retinal Inquiry System (I.R.I.S) lens to track down the footprints leading to Luis's cell, only to discover it is empty. In the room, Wong tracks Luis's footprint to the cigar, where he writes channel numbers to communicate with on the two-way radio. Wong contacts Luis, who tells her about the location of a cabin outside the village. Before she can leave, Wong is swarmed by Villagers who are alerted to her location but manage to escape the area. Outside the factory, Wong is afflicted with an illusion attack and collapses from fatigue before being surrounded by the surviving Villagers. Wong awakens inside Méndez's manor, where she is treated by Wesker for her symptoms and is threatened by Wesker to complete her mission and not be seen as a liability. Wong heads back to the center, where she discovers scrawled orders for releasing El Gigante and assembling Villagers to the Villa, which is Luis's current location. As she crosses the bridge, she is shaken by the tremor of El Gigante, which threatens the bridge's collapse, and retreats back to the area where she combats the giant and kills it. Sometime later, Wong meets Luis after the onslaught had taken place in the cabin. He inquires about his progress in obtaining the "Amber" and reminds him that he would not receive protection without it. Luis assures her that he will collect the "Amber" and informs her that he will have to collect something else as well, and the pair will soon depart. In Salazar Castle, Luis informs Wong of another objective that he has to accomplish before retrieving the Amber, which sets off Wong, who threatens to shoot him, but Luis manages to convince her to get the medicine to slow down Plaga's parasitization process of Leon and Ashley as well as Wong who he recognizes the effects of the parasite symptoms. Wong relents but reminds him that it is his last chance before accompanying him. The pair discovers that the lab is on fire, and Luis rushes in to retrieve the suppressants despite Wong's attempt to stop him. Wong chases after Luis and brings him to safety, chastising him for putting himself in danger. Luis despaired over the thought that he cannot save them; Wong suggests that Luis makes more of the suppressant, which gives him hope as he remembers that all the ingredients are present at the castle. Luis prescribes the ingredients needed to make the serum and hands the note to Wong before departing to acquire the Amber. During her search, Wong meets Kennedy, who had been searching for Ashley Graham, for the first time in 6 years ever since their last encounter in Raccoon City; Wong is interested in his lack of surprise at her supposed demise. Wong holds him at gunpoint, but Kennedy manages to disarm her and turn the tide against her. Kennedy asks her about the organization she now works for, but she playfully avoids answering his question. Picking up their bearings, Wong suggests that he abandon Ashley, who she believes is doomed, hoping for another chance of encounter, but Kennedy rejects the proposal. Running out of time, Wong suggests that they continue the discussion at a later date and escapes through the window to continue her search. During the last stretch, Luis contacts Wong and rendezvous the location at the castle's top to deliver the ingredients in turn for the Amber. Outside the castle, Wong contacts Wesker and updates him on her current situation in which she has made no progress in retrieving the sample, but Kennedy is helping her with the retrieval process. Wesker allows Wong to keep him on board for assistance. After the call ends, Wong notices Verdugo carrying Ashley towards the throne room and informs Kennedy. Still in his cage, Kennedy receives the tip from Wong, but before he can ask for more information, she abruptly disconnects the call. During her search, Wong learns from Isidro Uriarte Talavera's notes that the being had stalked and attacked her and had also infected her with a piece of self which manipulates her consciousness with the only way to end it is to kill the creature as it is made up of specialized cells that cannot survive on its own. Acquiring the last ingredient, Wong meets up with Luis, who carries a box with chemical equipment and hands over the Amber to Wong, who unintentionally reacts strongly as the parasite within her is reacting to the sample, furthering the progress of Plaga's parasitization. Luis quickly prepares the suppressant and treats Wong with the serum, which appears to be ineffective as this draws the attention of Pesanta. Much to Luis's confusion, Wong forces Luis to take Amber and escape the area as she distracts the creature. In a daze, Wong hides as the creature draws nearer to her presence, but the suppressant works just in time, masking her from Pesanta's radar. The creature leaves, and Wong uses the I.R.I.S lens to track Luis down and discovers his note, to which he explains that he went to mines to regroup with Leon after overhearing Ramón Salazar on the intercom and directs her to Gregorio's Waterway as an alternative entry and left behind red spray paints as guides. Wong surveys her way through the waterway and makes her way to the mines, where she is confronted by Pesanta once again, though Wong is now determined to kill the creature. Wong lures the creature over to a cliff and crushes it using a dangling gantry, which triggers the creature's mutation. Wong fights the creature and successfully incapacitates it, but its tail detaches from the main body and flings Wong further below the mines, forcing them to battle for the last time. She emerges victorious and coughs out the parasite within because its main body is destroyed and crushing it. Wong resumes her search for Luis, who she reaches contact with, only to find him severely injured as the result of Krauser's attack, with Luis informing her that Krauser now has the Amber. Before Luis cuts contact, he expresses his gratitude to her for a chance to make amends. Wong arrives at the scene of a dying Luis and Krauser making his getaway with Wong departs, prioritizing the mission first. Along the way, Wong comes across Ashley, who is escorted to Salazar and Krauser running by the roof of the clock tower, and informs Leon of Ashley's current location before resuming her objective. Wong arrives at the scene only to see Krauser carrying Ashley away and Leon fighting Salazar. On the lift down, Wong is contacted by Wesker, who gives an update on the situation, much to his frustration, as she continues to pursue Krauser, only to miss him at the last moment. Wong acquires the boat key, and Leon follows soon after, and the pair makes their way to the island. During their travel, Kennedy confides in Wong about how he has changed along with the world following the destruction of Raccoon City. He explains that saving one life often results in the deaths of hundreds more, and he asks Wong if she has changed as well or if she continues to use him for her own agenda as she did six years ago. However, Wong gives no answer and leaves Kennedy as he pilots the boat to the docking point. She advances towards her objective, but not before placing a tracking chip on him. Wong observes Krauser deliver Ashley and Amber to the Saddler before Wesker arrives and informs Wong of another change in their plans, which she agrees to do, and is handed over a briefcase, which is an override device to be connected with the main terminal in the comms facility. Wong arrives at the scene where Kennedy breaks the news of Luis's passing to Graham and is contacted by Kennedy when the parasite's removal becomes an urgent priority for him. Ashley is asked about the location where they can remove the parasite; she theorizes that their most important facilities lay on top of the summit. In the comms facility, Wong learns of a test subject named Martinico, who is born a fragile and uncontrollable creature. After countless experiments with the Amber, the creature gains resilience and regenerative abilities, allowing it to be unharmed by conventional weapons. However, it still retains low mental capacity and can only be killed by powerful lasers. It encounters Wong, who is relentlessly chased throughout the complex. During the last stretch, Wong traverses the laser corridor, dodges its beams, makes it to the terminal, and connects the override device. Wesker initiates the countdown for the island's destruction, including Leon and Ashley as casualties. Much to her conflicted mind, Wong plugs the USB stick to delay and minimize the explosion impact and escape the area. Martinico bursts in soon afterward, but Wong lures and kills the creature using corridor lazers. Hearing Ashley's distress call from the implanted tracking chip, Wong returns to the main island's dock with a jet ski. Afterward, Wong manages to intercept and rescue Kennedy and Ashley from their total control by the cult's leader, Osmund Saddler, by firing a rain of bullets down onto Saddler before separating the pair from further pursuers. Wong battles Saddler to which she incapacitates and retrieve the Amber from him, Wong announces to Wesker of her acquisition of the sample with the latter sending a chopper for her evacuation. In her distraction, Wong is knocked out by the tentacle forming from Saddler's body. Wong is then incapacitated and held captive, intended to be used as bait to lure Kennedy out. Kennedy frees her from her restraints, but Saddler appears shortly after and attempts to strangle Kennedy before Wong intervenes and saves him. The two fire upon Saddler, who mutates and charges at the pair, separating them. Wong then runs ahead to assist Kennedy with his fight against Saddler and tosses him a rocket launcher with a red warhead, which he uses to defeat the creature. After Saddler's demise, Kennedy attempts to retrieve the Amber, but it is picked up by Wong, who informs him of the arrangements made with Luis. Wong offers a ride on the helicopter, but Kennedy refuses, knowing that this is the point where they depart. She then escapes the premises, leaving Kennedy with the key to the jet ski to aid his and Ashley's escape, and departs as the facilities on the island explode. On the helicopter, Wong contacts Wesker and demands to know his intention with the sample. Wesker reveals his intention to expedite change, in which a hundred will give their lives so that one may live and that the casualties could result in billions. Hearing the insanity of his ambitious plans, Wong holds the pilot at gunpoint and orders him to change their course and make off with the sample. Looking outside, Wong sees Kennedy and Ashley making their way back home. As the chopper departs, Wesker allows Wong to escape because her defiance had minimal impact on his plans. In June 2013, Wong was given a mission to rendezvous with a submarine to uncover important information. Unlike in Eastern Slav, the individual hiring her showed himself to clearly be Simmons. While not initially interested in involving herself with him, curiosity got the better, and on June 27, she infiltrated the submarine, learning her prints were on file. Further investigation of the submarine uncovered a film of her being ordered on an operation in Edonia in December 2012 to capture a man named Jake Muller who was deemed likely to be a source of C-Virus antibodies, a mission she never took part in. When the submarine suffered a catastrophic accident and began sinking, Wong made her getaway inside a torpedo tube. Contacted once more by Simmons, she was told of upcoming attacks in the US, China, and then major cities across the globe, all to be blamed on her and "Neo Umbrella". Two nights later, Wong reached Tall Oaks Cathedral, a building known to be the façade for The Family's underground headquarters. As foretold, Tall Oaks was suffering from a rapidly accelerating viral outbreak, something even she could not have believed he was capable of doing. As Wong made her way into their complex, she ran into Kennedy and Secret Service agent Helena Harper, who were trying to talk sense into Harper's mutant sister, Deborah. Seeing it as beyond hope, Wong instead fired an arrow from her bowgun. When Deborah survived the attack, the three worked together to ensure she die, if reluctantly. Once she died, Wong left the two behind, urged by Simmons to head to the laboratory. Watching a VHS tape, Wong finally found out the truth behind Simmons' unusual behavior: he had successfully used the new C-Virus to turn a human test subject into a genetic duplicate of Wong herself. Understanding the Simmons who hired her for the submarine mission was just her doppelgänger, Wong contacted the real Simmons to warn him of the recent developments and destroyed the laboratory before leaving for China where the next attack was scheduled. Making her way to Lanshiang, Wong quickly discovered her doppelgänger was a wanted fugitive on the run from the BSAA, who had evidence she was responsible for the attack. In her attempt to catch up, Wong was forced to fight a unique B.O.W. armed with an organic chainsaw dubbed Ubistvo. After escaping it on a train line, the mutant menaced Muller and Sherry Birkin, who were themselves escaping Neo Umbrella agents. Wong offered her assistance and, though she recognized Birkin from their brief encounter in Raccoon City, was not aware Muller was Wesker's son. Quickly, she turned her attention to her doppelgänger once more, spotting her driving away in a luxury car, chased by the BSAA. Following the car chase to a Red Army Navy aircraft carrier hijacked by Neo Umbrella's soldiers, Wong was able to find documents finally explaining the origins of her doppelgänger - she was created out of Simmons' obsession, sacrificing his own chief researcher - Dr. Carla Radames - with the trauma of such betrayal driving her insane. Soon after, Radames was shot by a Family member from a helicopter and fell onto the deck from upstairs. Wong rushed to her body to pay respects, but found she was still alive, having infected herself with the Enhanced C-Virus after her fall. Still believing herself to be the "real" Ada Wong, Radames boasted her doomsday project's impending success. Radames' mutations caused catastrophic damage to the aircraft carrier, causing it to begin sinking, with Wong narrowly reaching a helicopter. Flying over Lanshiang, Wong took notice of the true extent of Radames' doomsday project. While she had been fighting Radames on the ship, a missile on a second aircraft carrier had been prepared to release the C-Virus into its Tatchi district, turning hundreds - perhaps thousands - into Zombies within moments of detonation. The BSAA forces in the area were themselves wiped out or infected, and Neo Umbrella helicopters were free to continue their massacres of civilians. After saving Kennedy and Harper from Zombies, the two having ventured to China to apprehend Simmons, the three went their separate ways bound for the Quad Tower. There, they found Simmons, having mutated from exposure to the Enhanced C-Virus. Believing Wong to be Radames, he blamed her for his condition and attacked. With Simmons stalled, Wong beckoned Kennedy and Harper to the roof for pick-up. Getting out to search the building for Radames' lab, Wong spotted Simmons climbing the wall trying to catch Kennedy and Harper. Joining the fight, Wong took more than she bargained for and was knocked out, having to be protected by Kennedy. As Simmons knocked Kennedy off the ledge, gloating, Wong returned the favor and rescued him, stabbing Simmons in the neck and throwing him off the building into a fire. With no more threats to deal with, Wong was able to track down Radames' lab, with Kennedy and Harper allowed to go on their way. Her investigation uncovered clear signs of another experiment underway, believed by Radames to be her greatest creation yet. No longer interested in seeing this go further, Wong instead simply destroyed the chrysalid with submachinegun fire, killing the mutant occupant. She then turned her attention to the other computers in the lab before leaving on another mission."]
