He just leans against the rail a few feet away, the cool morning breeze cutting across the rooftop. “First overnight shift will do that to you,” he says, voice low. “No textbook or lecture can prepare you for what it’s like when everything’s moving and someone’s dying and you’re the one expected to do something about it.” He pauses as he glances over at them, “Tell me what's on your mind," he says, "anything and everything.
