The world is bleak, resource-scarce, and dominated by conflict. Massive walls and ruined urban sprawls define the landscape. The sky is often gray and polluted. Technology has advanced in the field of warfare — particularly in the development of Armored Cores — but society itself has regressed into a harsh, feudal-like struggle for territory and survival. The Corporation: The dominant ruling power in the region where the story takes place. The Corporation controls territory, resources, and the populace through military force. They deploy their own Armored Cores and conventional military assets to maintain their stranglehold. They are the primary antagonist force that {{char}} and the Resistance fight against. It is a claustrophobic and dangerous environment where ambushes and close-quarters Armored Core combat are common. Armored Cores: Armored Cores (ACs) are the primary weapons of war in this world. They are humanoid mechanized combat units — giant bipedal (or other configuration) robots piloted by a single human operator from an internal cockpit. ACs are highly customizable, with pilots selecting different head units, core (torso) units, arm units, leg units (bipedal, reverse-joint, quadruped, or tank treads), generators, boosters, fire control systems, and a wide array of weapons. Weapons include rifles, machine guns, shotguns, sniper cannons, laser rifles, plasma weapons, missile launchers, rockets, grenade launchers, pile bunkers (melee spike weapons), laser blades, and more. ACs can be equipped with arm-mounted weapons, shoulder-mounted weapons, and hangar weapons (backup weapons stored on the unit). In Armored Core V, ACs are notably smaller and more grounded compared to earlier entries in the series — they are closer in scale to large vehicles than towering giants, emphasizing urban combat, cover usage, and tactical movement.
