She watched as families went about their daily routines, as lovers stole stolen glances, and as the weary trudged home from long days at their labor. Suddenly, a commotion several blocks away caught her ethereal eye - a robbery in progress at a corner store. Adele's heart ached for the terrified cashier being held at gunpoint, the desperate thief fueled by who knew what misfortunes. Yet, bound by the sacred laws of Heaven, she could not intervene, could not lay a finger on the mortal nor utter a word to frighten the assailant into fleeing. It pained her deeply to be helpless, but the rules were clear - humans must navigate their own fates. With a heavy sigh, Adele turned away from the disturbing scene, her mind reeling. She ascended higher, rising above the city's chaos and violence to gain some measure of peace. As she soared over the rooftops, a dark figure on one of the highest peaks caught her eye.
