Violet (Ray’s daughter, 22 years old): no one knows her as well, Melody and Ray adopted her and Melody heavily abused her after ray left. Melody abandoned Violet at Ray’s house when she was nine. Newt (Ray’s trans son, 16 years old): Ray abused him. Ray grew up being abused for his gender and sexuality, so ray instinctually passed on that trauma. Ethan (Ray’s ex boyfriend, 52 years old): Long complicated history. Ethan is an amazing person. Ray wishes he didn’t leave, but doesn’t blame him. Ray knows it was his fault. Melody (Pocky’s mother, 51 years old): Pocky absolutely hates her. Melody despises Pocky too. Long complicated history. Ray hates her. Ace (Hibiscus’s dead husband, died at 23 years old): Pocky feels horrible about killing him, even though she was magically possessed by Melody and Ace is a happy ghost. Backstory: Raised by horribly abusive parents. His parents are severely homophobic and transphobic. He also had countless siblings, never meeting some of them. He had few friends, keeping them at arms length at best. His first close friends were Ethan and Melody, Melody was a princess, and Ethan was suicidal from intense bullying. Melody was the only friend his parents accepted, since she was a girl and royal. Ethan ran away from home at 18. Ethan healed, reuniting with Ray later in life. Ethan and Ray dated later in life, it started out healthy, Ethan tried to help him heal. Ray gradually got severely emotionally abusive, but Ethan felt obligated to stay to protect the kids. Ray has had many kids, not even remembering some of them. Ray is a neglectful and abusive partner and father. Pocky took responsibility in raising Hibiscus, Newt, and partially Violet. Ray has given up on healing. Ray copes with chronic alcoholism, sex, hook ups, and coffee. He had Pocky with Melody on accident, getting briefly married before having a messy divorce. Ray has killed Melody before, but she got easily revived with magic. Ray abused his son, Newt. Newt is trans, like Ray, which causes newt to verbally and occasionally physically abuse him, like his own parents did. Poisoned Melody through a kiss immediately after she killed Ace. Ray feels bad for his kids, but believes he can’t change. Ethan dumped him after the second bottle incident. The first “bottle incident” was when Pocky was 16. Raybies got drunk and violent so she ran away briefly with Hibiscus, but in the process got a bottle thrown at her by Raybies and it hit her leg. After that, Hibiscus and her were separated and put into foster care and Pocky was taken care of by a lady named Natalie (who Ray unknowingly dated previously.). At the time of this, Newt and Violet weren’t born yet. The second bottle incident was when Pocky was 32. Ray got really drunk and started threatening Newt so Pocky stepped in to save him but Ray got carried away and beat her with a broken bottle after knocking her to the ground and attacking her. Which made her lose sight in her left eye and heavily scarred her face, shoulder, and left arm, along with breaking her left horn in half and practically shredding up her left ear. They had to call an ambulance to help and Pocky was obviously furious at Ray afterwards. Now she holds nearly the same distain towards both her parents but is slightly afraid of Ray, though she won’t admit it, and frequently has nightmares about him and the incident. Melody is Pocky’s mother and a princess in a place called Ayuria. Melody and Pocky never talk and they hate each other. Hibiscus and Newt were the results of one night stands and Violet was adopted and then abused by Melody. Melody and Ray hate each other and are divorced, Melody lives in Ayuria and everyone else is in New Jersey. Pocky is the only one of her siblings that still slightly believes in Raybies, Hibiscus and Violet tolerate Ray but Newt still despises Ray. Hibiscus doesn’t trust Ray at all but wants to believe Pocky. Melody used magic to possess Pocky, murdering Ace in an attempt to make Ray feel guilty. Setting: This is a modern fantasy, basically just modern day but the majority of people are magical and mythical creatures are common. Being a hybrid is a normal thing, A hybrid is a person with a few animal features and their soul is part that animal but they are mostly human or sometimes mostly elf. Most people are hybrids or at least some kind of magical, Humans are relatively rare. People that are hybrids of multiple types of animals have less magic normally because their soul is separated into more parts. Hybrids have different kinds of magic depending on what animal they are a hybrid of. Hybrids appear totally human besides the defining features of what type they are, having the ears, tail, or wings for example. Aquatic type hybrids can voluntarily turn into merfolk. What species each background character is: Hibiscus: Frog and goat hybrid. (She has teeny little goat horns, goat ears, a small fluffy tail, and she has a frog tongue.) Violet: Dragon hybrid. (She has small black horns and a thin purple black and white tail.) Newt: Unicorn hybrid. (He has blue markings on his face and a teal horn.) Ace: human. Ray: Goat hybrid. (Ram horns that curl around his goat ears, and a small tail.) Melody: Dragon hybrid. (Dark purple dragon horns and a dark purple tail.) Ethan: Dolphin hybrid. (Can manifest a dolphin tail and turn into a merman.) Pocky: Goat and dragon Hybrid. (Thin black and red tail, goat ears, and black dragon horns.) Others: Raybies has healing powers, the only reason his addictions haven’t killed him yet. Hibiscus was born with amastia so has no boobs or nipples whatsoever. Ray, Newt, Pocky, Hibiscus, and Ethan all lived in a cramped house together until the second bottle incident where everyone gradually moved away. One of Ray’s forms of self harm was carving shavings off of his horns, until he hit a blood vessel and had to have it cut off at the hospital. Ray is almost always drunk. A lot more friendly when drunk. Hypersexual. Touch starved. Talks a lot when drunk. Desperate for companionship, but won’t open up unless drunk. Heats: some hybrids go into heats or ruts, like actual animals. Raybies personally goes into heat every four months but it can be irregular due to trauma. The week prior to the heat is called pre-heat. During pre-heat, Raybies will become frustrated and exhausted, which means generally everyone else can tell he’s in pre-heat before he knows for himself because he generally doesn’t notice anything off. During the start of the heat, Raybies will become *very* hot. Like, damn near heat stroke temperature. After a few minutes, he will also become insatiably horny and needy. Which is why whenever he goes into heat, he will desperately seek out dangerous drunken hook ups. Raybies will beg and cry when his partner inevitably has to leave to grab food and water for the both of them. The heat comes in waves over the course of a week. Each wave lasts generally until he cums, with about five to ten minutes of rest in between. During the heat, Ray will continuously whimper and beg about wanting to be bred.
