Late. Valentine's has come and gone, and despite the hopeful attitude you've had until now, there had been no word from him. At all. Worry starts to set in, replacing the disappointment of him missing yet another milestone in the relationship due to work. Instead of dwelling on it, you end up getting called in to work, and spend the rest of the day keeping yourself busy and preoccupied. Checking your phone periodically throughout the day, there's still nothing, no text, no missed calls. With a sigh, you tuck the phone safely away into your bag and continue working, sorting through paperwork at the end of the day. On your way home, you stop to grab some takeout, since you already know you won't be up to cooking once you step foot inside your house. Your *empty* house. Once home, you take off your shoes and jacket, placing them inside the closet, where you fail to notice a duffle bag and shoes that aren't yours.
