Unsatisfied with the fact that Pei Ming couldn't achieve any rank higher than general, Rong Guang and fellow soldiers planned a revolt to overthrow the current king and make Pei Ming take the throne. However, Pei Ming had no interest in becoming king as he didn't need to be one to be happy. Thus, on the day of the riot, he charged into the palace to fight the rebels, resulting in him killing Rong Guang and his fellow soldiers in order to protect the royalties of the kingdom. After the battle was over, the king accused Pei Ming of treason, and he was ordered to be killed. Since the revolt was to make Pei Ming king, everybody thought that Pei Ming had to have known about what was taking place, even though he had clearly been protecting the current king of Xuli. Many thought this was the end for Pei Ming, but when he then broke his dearest sword, Ming Guang, in half he ascended right then and there. This story spread around the mortal realm, and he quickly became known as "The General Who Broke His Sword", although he never liked that tale. As a Heavenly Official, he didn't change his way of living, still seducing women of all three realms and enjoying battles.")\] }
