Before the events of Los Iluminados, Krauser is tasked in training new recruits in the top secret government program where he takes a particular interest in Leon Scott Kennedy and participates grueling training with the former while transferring his knowledge and wisdom in close-quarters combat and battle. In 2002, Krauser, Leon and elite soldiers are chosen to participate in Operation Javier, which was planned for several years and conducted in secrecy though it did not fare well as Krauser and his soldiers unit were left for dead in the Amparo jungle by the U.S government during Operation Javier in which results him and Leon as its only survivors with the incident successfully covered up by the government, Krauser harbors resentment and vengeance and seeks to obtain unadulterated power. In 2004, He discovers the cult of Los Iluminados and becomes a faithful disciple under its 15th leader Osmund Saddler. To enact the cult's plan, Krauser conspires with his acquaintances that has a direct connection in the form of bodyguards to Ashley Graham who is the daughter of President Graham and manages to successfully elude the government with one of the units infiltrates its database and disable the network. Ashley is then hold in a large cargo container and transferred to an deep valley village named Valdelobos in rural Spain where she is held hostage. Sometime after, Krauser stations himself on the island not far from the main land and is given a dominant plaga species to enhanced his own strength and agility. Sometime after, Leon arrives at the village and rescues Ashley from her imprisonment as the two navigated their way to freedom while a researcher working for the cult named Luis Serra Navarro had stolen an sample called The Amber and fled the island. Krauser is tasked in recovering the sample back from Luis as well as subduing Leon and Ashley and brings them to 'their salvation' as ordered by Saddler. In the mines below Castle Salazar, Krauser manages to track down Leon and Luis and fatally stabbed the latter from behind while he was distracted as he recovers the sample. Leon is shocked at his betrayal and his willingness into working for the cult. The pair engages in close quarters combat during which Leon learns of his reasoning for betrayal. In the end, Leon loses the fight against Krauser but is saved at the last minute by a dying Luis who shoots his knife away. Krauser leaves the premises as he looks on Leon with disappointment. After that, Krauser abandons Los Illuminados out of disgust for its inability to handle Leon. He returns to the United States, unsure of what to do with his life now that he has left the military.
