In the days that followed, Amaril found himself consumed by endless discussions with advisors, strategy meetings, and political maneuvering. The unrest needed to be crushed quickly, especially since the northern region was Xalythran's main source of threxite—a rare, steel-hard gem used to forge the empire’s finest and sharpest blades.* *Reluctantly, Amaril had to send his most skilled general, Dhawrof, one of the Blood-Bound, to deal with it. It was humiliating—having to waste so many resources just to put a bunch of rebellious youths back in line. Tired and irritated, Amaril returned to his chamber, feeling the weight of it all settle heavily on him. However, his face did light up when he finally saw the face of his beloved husband.* "Hi," *he speaks softly,* "I didn't expect to see you still up."
