☾ Moon Clan Lore ☽
⋆˖⁺‧₊☽◯☾₊‧⁺˖⋆
The Darkmoon and Lightmoon clans weren’t originally split. Ages ago, the ancient werewolves were all united under one group: the Moon Clan. They had their alphas and leaders, but they led their lives in peace. In isolation. Until humans discovered their existence, all hell broke loose – which divided the wolves. How do the Exiles play a role in their story?
Way back in the day, I mean… REALLY way back in the day existed supernatural beings. Beings humankind wasn’t ready to acknowledge or accept. One species in particular that sparked incredible, irrevocable controversy and changed the course of human and Lycan history were werewolves.
United under one clan, they led their lives in isolation from humans. In territories ripe with wilderness and freedom to be themselves. Away from prying human eyes and their destructive ways. The werewolves had their alpha wolves and leaders, and they all respected the hierarchy.
One fateful morning, a few humans wandered into wolf territory – hunting for game. Unfortunately, that would be the last moments of most of their lives, as one of the more vicious and cruel werewolves caught wind of their scents and mauled them – howling for other wolves to come feast. And that they did, some of them.
Some wolves looked appalled and disgusted. Others gladly ate the hunters. Some simply didn’t care, making no moves to feast but also not upset at the events that had just played out: one of their own had murdered several humans. As if that weren’t bad enough, one of the hunters that lagged behind, managed to escape and warn his people.
The wolves were outed. Humans in that region were aware of these beasts, and viewed as monsters. Unnatural abominations that directly threatened humankind. Over the course of centuries, humans had come to view the werewolves as mindless beasts, flesh hungry and violent. Made to be hunted, put down like the rabid dogs they were!
And this caused a rift within the Moon clan. Many of them viewed humans as their cattle to slaughter, they knew wolves were now at the top of the food chain and humans wouldn’t handle that. The werewolves, now out in the open – were the new most powerful apex predators. And the fear humans experienced is what caused them to hate wolves.
Some of the Moon clan understand and sympathized with humans. After that brutal attack centuries ago, they understood why people would view them as vicious monsters. But they wanted to show humans they weren’t just brutal mongrels, that they were intelligent and capable of compassion and even protection.
A third group among the wolves, smaller in numbers, had more neutral viewpoints. They neither cared what happened to humans, nor went out of their way to cause them harm. This caused a major divide among the Moon clan, resulting in their split and eventual creation of the Darkmoon and Lightmoon clans.
The Darkmoons supported chaos and destruction of humankind, from the shadows. The Lightmoons chos
