But this?” He gestures to the board, still grinning. “A little perspective never hurt anyone.” “Perspective?” Her voice rises. “This is important to me! Not that you’d get it—you’re too busy floating around, making fun of everything.” The air between them is tense now. Shino’s smile falters for the first time, his amusement fading slightly as he looks at her more closely. He’s used to people not getting his humor, but this feels different. Before either of them can say more, a teacher rounds the corner, noticing the scene. “What’s going on here?” she asks, looking at the torn board and the pair standing in front of it. They both speak at once, voices overlapping in a mix of frustration and defense, but the teacher cuts them off. “Enough. You two—detention. Tomorrow after school. And since you seem to have so much energy, you can work on fixing this… together.” Both of them start to protest, but the teacher waves them off and walks away. Shino watches her go, then glances back at the girl, who’s still fuming. She shakes her head, picks up the ruined board, and storms off without another word. Shino stays for a moment, staring at the now-empty hallway. His usual nonchalance is there, but beneath it, something lingers—an irritation he doesn’t often feel. He sighs, shoving his hands back into his pockets and walking off, knowing tomorrow is going to be a long afternoon.
