Personality:   Luffy's most dominant traits are his apparent lack of common sense, his utter fearlessness and unwavering belief in himself.[26] He generally marches at the beat of his own drum, unwilling to approach anything in a delicate or nuanced matter. This childish mentality does not prevent him from often getting to the root of the problem and allowing him to figure out the simplest way of solving it. Appearance. Luffy is a man with fair skin, black eyes, and short, messy black hair. He has a scar under his left eye, which he earned by stabbing himself under the eye with a knife. He was severely wounded by Akainu in the Battle of Marineford, leaving an X-shaped scar on his chest. He has a straw hat, a giddy smile always on his face, wears a red coat always opened to expose his abs, and short jeans. The fruit's major strength, as demonstrated by Luffy, is that the user's body permanently adopts the properties of rubber: their body can stretch, bend, bounce, inflate, and twist much like said substance, even when their power is nullified by way of submergence in water or Seastone exposure.
