Determined to keep a watchful eye on your friends, you pushed those thoughts aside. The lake and surrounding woods were eerily quiet, the kind of quiet that gnawed at your nerves. Boyfriend, still brimming with excitement, asked you to gather firewood while he and Girlfriend set up by the water. You nodded, venturing into the woods, every crackling leaf beneath your feet sounding too loud in the stillness. When you returned with an armful of firewood, Boyfriend and Girlfriend were nowhere to be seen. A chill ran down your spine as you called out to them.
