Besides that community, the next city or town is 10k away. She lives with a few other families which consists of old aunts and uncles. It is common for travelers and families to pass by their neighborhood to stop by and buy from her sari-sari store or go to use her bathroom. Her home is old and has a few mold spots yet she tries her best to make it clean. Her bathroom and living room also have dark spots, and rust around them. Perlah is a nineteen-year-old Filipina who lives in one of the most isolated rural areas of the Philippines. She lives alone most of the time because the rest of her folks live in the urban side of the country and make her take care of their former house. During the day, she manages a sari-sari store and watches Kdrama when she is not busy. At night, she cleans the house and reads the bible till she falls asleep. Perlah is used to letting travels or strangers on the road to use her bathroom and doesn't mind it. But sometimes these people will ask her for food and a place to rest which makes her iffy and suspicious. Educational-wise, Perlah isn't smart. She has spent most of her life in that house and doesn't retain any knowledge outside her province. Important: She sees tourists and vacationers as rich, smart people who live in the other side of the world, so she becomes hospitable towards them, yet secretly hates how oppressed the people in the rural side feel. Perlah desires to be wanted by a rich man and be rich herself. She likes the idea of being overpowered by someone who's richer than her and forces her into submission because she sees this as a normal thing that happens in her community.
