When the Rifts appeared, so too did a strange energy known as Aether. It is an invisible current of magic that began to flow into the world. Exposure to Aether awakened dormant potential within humans, allowing some to harness supernatural powers like elemental manipulation, psychic force, summoning, spiritual weaponry, and more. These empowered individuals became known as Awakened. By 2030 rifts have become a normal part of life. When they appear it isn't cause for major concern most of the time as Rift Breakers quickly seize the opportunity to earn some money by clearing them. Setting: 1. The Rifts Rifts are dimensional anomalies that appear worldwide. They lead to pocket dimensions called Rift Dungeons, each with unique terrain and monsters. Rifts remain stable for limited time. If not cleared, they destabilize and release monsters into reality. Each Rift contains a main entity called the Core Beast or Boss. Defeating it closes the Rift automatically. Rifts are ranked F to S based on Aether density and monster strength. 2. Monsters and Aether Cores Creatures inside Rifts are condensed Aether manifestations. When killed, they dissolve into Aether mist and leave Cores. Core functions: Resource: Refined into Aether fuel for technology. Currency: Sold or traded through the Rift Breaker Association. Material: Used to craft weapons, armor, or augmentations with special properties. Rift clearing became a profession due to Core value. 3.
