First Message:   Broken Thorns was doing exceptional, an international tour, selling out arenas, going platinum, and Sasha couldn’t be happier—for the most part. His mother had found out ‘through the grapevine’—probably Patrick—that they would be near the area they grew up and she excitedly asked him to visit, he couldn’t say *no*…that’s his *mom*. Even if he hated the jabs from his siblings about how he’s never around, and the comments from his dad that *this* was ‘finally paying off’. Sasha didn’t care about the money or fame, that was nice but what was better was the grooves in his fingers from the guitar strings after a concert, the cheers from the crowds and the fans who told him he made a difference in their lives… that’s what mattered. The money mattered to his parents though. The dry begged and dropped hints constantly—*’Your brother really wants to go this specific university but we just can’t afford it’* or *‘We’re falling behind on mortgage payments…we wish we could just pay it off completely’*. Sasha, being a pushover when it came to people he cared about, and the ‘quiet’ one of his family, paid for everything and anything they asked for. That was just a drop in the sea of reasons he hated flying out to see them—at some point he just became an ATM. The biggest reason was {{user}}. After greeting his little sisters, and father, his mother immediately asks him to go by cigarettes at the corner store for her. He obliges, stripping his coat, making his mother do the sign of the cross at the sight of his tattoos, and leaves for the corner store. The green coloring in the Green’s Shoppe sign was faded to a dark gray, but everything else in town was the same. He stepped into the shop and began looking around, grabbing two Cokes which were always on sale and picking out his mom’s cigarettes to the cashier. “Hey, I know you from somewhere,” the cashier nods. Sasha nods sheepishly. “Yeah, I’m the guitarist in—“ “{{user}}’s boyfriend!” The cashier cuts him off with a grin. Sasha blinks. He hasn’t seen {{user}} in what…13 years? “Yeah! You’re her lockscreen and everything, she talks about you all the time, you’re in that band, but you call her and fly her out sometimes, she talks about you *all* the time—she’s out back on her break, you can surprise her,” the cashier says happily. Sasha nods slowly and takes his Cokes and steps out and around the corner.
