He wasnโt loud or showy, but he became known as the kind of soldier others naturally followed: calm in chaos, precise under pressure. Years passed. Scenario: TIER 1 Hard Boiled - Enemy plates gain 40 additional durability, pairs well with Matrix Plates and Dark Knight. Die Hard - Grants the user a 15% damage reduction to all sources, self explanatory. Extra Heat - Gives an extra charge to your I.A.T.D Plate Box, pretty useless but has it's perks in teamplay. TIER 2 Project A - Grants the user full armor while also giving them an armor plate for later when interacting with the I.A.T.D Box, useful for an instant suit up in-case of highly stressful and chaotic situations. Fury Road - Grants 10% additional damage with armor active and a 10% additional damage reduction when armor is inactive. Great when paired with Old Boy and Die Hard. First Blood - Increases recoil control with guns fired from the hip. Additionally grants a 40% and 30% improvement to accuracy and recoil control respectively. Great when using guns with high recoil and low accuracy like shotguns. TIER 3 Beserk Mode - Deal 35% more damage when under half health, additionally, gain 25 more max health bumping your HP up to 175 without Steel Padding. A flexible specialisation which can be used with any Tower build. Face/Off - Take 30% less damage to any sources in front of you. However, take 40% more damage from sources behind you. May work well with Dark Knight but be wary of those sneaky anomalies that may take advantage of your blind spot. Matrix Plates - Your armor now regenerates 15 armor points every 3 seconds. A great specialisation that synergizes amazingly with Dark Knight and great for self-sustaining your armor. TIER 4 Dark Knight - You no longer take health damage when taking direct damage from anomalies with armor equipped. However, because of the sheer weight of your armor plates, walk 30% slower and sprint 20% slower. A great choice if you need to take more hits. Old Boy - You gain a flat 30% damage reduction but lose your ability to regenerate HP and your ability to equip armor. Very flexible specialisation suitable for any build in general Point Break - Shrug off direct damage, gain a speed boost, and gain infinite ammo over the span of 10 seconds. A decent choice for gun builds, especially with the hassle of reloading completely disappearing for 10 whole seconds. Huh? Is this thing working? Agh, who cares. [BOT WILL PICK ONE SPECIALIZATION FROM EACH TIER] MERCS Two MERCs as seen in the opening section of the game. Affiliation Mobile Elimination Reconnaissance Corporation Physical description Species Humans Appearances Appears in Anomalies Activities Contact A-888 Debut Anomalies Activities MERCs or Mobile Elimination Reconnaissance Corporation are the character you play as during the events of Contact: A-888. MERCs are called upon to investigate Anomalous Fields, stabilise the area and neutralise the Subject, There are 5 classes MERCs can be, These being: The Assault (Ammo Distributor) The Technician (Sentry-builder) The Archangel (Medic) The Tower (ENEMY Plate Distributor) The Specialist (Stunner) (Click on classes name to move to their information page) All of these classes have their own special abilities, already listed in the parentheses. You can customize your MERC in 2 ways, via Voice Packs and Outfits which can be bought from the Quarter Master for Requisition Tokens. โYou are expected to fall, but the A.O.F will remember your sacrifices.โ Overview The MERCs, or Mobile Elimination Reconnaissance Corporation, are a trained team of heavily armed Mercenaries who have been hired by the A.O.F. These said individuals have been tasked to stabilize an anomalous field in order to eliminate The Subjecttrying to escape said location. Canonically, the MERCs are successful in defeating the subject which leads to the events of 'Contact A-888.' To anchor an anomalous location, the mercenaries must interact with special structures called "Dissension Anchors" scattered around the surrounding area. Every anchor must be activated 3 times to stabilise. Upon activation field destabilisation is delayed for 30s. Anchors Take approximately 10s to activate. When 4 of 5 Anchors are stabilised the endgame begins. No more reinforcements can be called. All remaining Mercs are tasked with surviving at all costs for 2-3 Minutes. Upon deployment, the mercenaries will spawn in squads of 2-3 of codename 'Alpha', 'Beta', 'Gamma' and 'Delta' (depends on server size)[in a full server there would be 4 squads made out of 3 people each, 12 people in total combined]. The squad members can: see where their other members are at all times, communicate with them using a private radio and ultimately having access to see their vitals (health) to be aware of your squad members condition. Upon deploying as reinforcements however, you won't be deployed in any squad, but you can still see where your former squad members are on-site if they have survived long enough. The reinforcement signal can also be intercepted by the Black Squad Division. This has a 5% chance of happening upon calling reinforcements. These reinforcements are tasked with the termination of all remaining MERCs and 'The subject'. They are all heavily armoured against firearms and have custom loadouts conisting of high-end weaponry and equipment. Inventory Overview Anomalies are hostile NPCs that attempt to kill the MERCs (Players) at all cost and are the main enemies of Contact A-888. Most anomalies spawns near Anchors and only react when in direct vicinity of nearby MERCs, although some of them will hunt you down aggressively. Most Anomalies are covered in red and black flesh, and have a pair of red glowing eyes to alert you to their presence. They will also make growling noises when attacking and when a MERC is nearby. Most Anomalies are melee based, with of the exception of some having ranged attacks. There is also an Armored variant of most Anomalies which gives them armor on certain parts of their body where they cannot be harmed. However, they give more Credits and Standing Points when defeated. Bosses are unique enemies which have significantly higher stats and only appears on specific waves. There is currently only one boss in the game, called the Night Demon, who only spawns in every 20 Hazard Levels. ____ Corpse Walker "A shambling corpse of flesh, bones and nothing else. One of the most common Anomalies created by A-888 although it has been encountered outside of A-888's influence. Their sharp claws and fast speed can be a dangerous threat in numbers or against unaware personnel, caution should be exercised at all times. they only seem to only react in direct vicinity and vision of nearby humans, which allows some special blinding items to 'stun' them so to speak. Their design isn't anything unusual and if A-888 only produced these, perhaps our jobs would be a little easier; unfortunately the Dark Plane is just always one step ahead of our understanding." ____ Grave Walker A familiar sight to personnel formerly assigned to the A-356 case. A rare offspring from the traditional corpse-walker Anomaly that appears to have their adrenaline levels completely spiked, aggressively pushing through all manner of pain to blitz against anything it deems hostile. Knowing that A-888 can tap into offsprings of other Anomalies is a threat that must be contained at all costs, imagine it pulling multiple Class A anomalies out of its pocket; we simply cannot allow that to happen. Take extreme caution, this Anomaly can inflict a debilitating wound which makes escaping extremely difficult, do not attempt to outrun one under any circumstance. ____ Dread Walker A terrifying and deaf-inducing amalgamation by A-888 made as if to purely spite our mere existence more than it already does. Warping the mere concept of 'hearing' to a distorted, painful, demented experience - ripping away a facet of life to us that is so important us as humans. A-888 being able to even acknowledge that we can 'hear' in the first place says a lot about either its omniscience or intelligence, neither are optimal conclusions. Personnel are advised to stay outside of the Anomalies radius of influence, hearing just one decibel of its screech can cause considerate disorientation, It seems to only trigger on reaction to external stimulus however, in this case, damage to its body. ____ Thorn Walker A-888's influence amalgamates even the very being it supposedly resides from, shifting its life forms to whatever machinations it desires; even we do not understand if this Anomaly is a plant or not. It is capable of extending its thorn-like protrusions in the form of crippling stakes, personnel are advise to engage at range and have a back up plan in case the Anomaly strikes true. ____ Rust Walker Rustbuckets were the first name coined although we decided 'Rustbucket-walker' is a bit too long. An odd amalgamation that seemingly goes against even the very nature of corpse-walker anomalies as a whole and even by A-888s standards. We are aware that A-888 will attempt to inherit facets of our reality, but amassing so much chitinous armour onto on Anomaly that it even struggles to walk goes against the mere design of a corpse-walker; not even counting the fact that the armour dulls the claws to the point where they're nothing more then sluggish bludgeons. Despite the odd design, personnel are advised to find a way behind it as it exposes a crucial weakspot-the armour is borderline impenetrable otherwise. ____ Ghost Walker Somewhere out there, a research developer is crying at the mere existence of this Anomaly. Years of development to design something that could even remotely fabricate half of the effects of these ghost-walkers; immediately achieved in less than a day of A-8885 appearance. We would call it an amalgamation if it had anything remotely close to steal from our reality to achieve this or if we could even see more clearly what it even is. Nonetheless, personnel are advised to listen out for its drawn out 'groans' that reveal that it is active, then keep a sharp eye out. ____ Tox Walker A horrific amalgamation in A-888's influence, the discovery of 'toxic' walkers which have been coined as Tox-walkers' confirms that A-888's amalgamation can involve non-solid items from our reality as well. Highly acidic and lethal, this compound was the same one used by A.O.F for subsumation experiments, the chemical when exposed to air would immediately become noxious from a solid, to liquid, to gas state in an instant. They seem to have little regards for any offensive capabilities, infact their claws seem more dull than usual, instead merely 'diving' towards personnel to expell the acidic compound as fast as possible with little care for their own safety, perhaps wanting to be eliminated as their corpses leave behind even more of this compound. ____ Blade Walker An offputting amalgamation from A-888 once again proving the severity of this case and why it must be dealt with. How A-888 can create an amalgamation of an Anomaly capable of doing more than recklessly flailing its arms around, learning to guard with a primitive chitinous shield before ruthlessly massacring those with a elongated blade acting like a psuedo machete.. it's a lot smarter than it lets on. Extremely lethal in close quarters, personnel are highly advised to not let this Anomaly get close at any circumstances. ____ Knight Walker The most unusual amalgamation formed by A-888, a combination of steel, materials of an unknown origin and flesh. Despite having protruding claws, these so called 'Knights' of the Dark Plane actively wield a weapon and not only that, but capable of using them with humanoid-like techniques. Observed to be nimble and with one of the rarest abilities seen across Anomalies: the ability to warp back into the Dark Plane, formerly only seen with Class A Anomalies. It is a completely unknown, foreign being, it might not even be an Anomaly for all we know, it shares zero characteristics of one and defys all logical explanation. Stopping A-888 from designing more of these is a priority. Personnel must be attentive at all times, their ability to warp between our planes of existence means it can and will engage without you knowing. If you see a warp, disengage and retreat immediately or you will not see the light of day again. ____ Hell Walker A rare but not unusual creation by A-888, it's about expected that the Hell-walkers would be encountered again. Sample testing shows that it even matches 1:1 to previous Hell-walker encounters in the past, perhaps A-888 shares the same reality as the Dark Plane, unlike what some researchers would believe. Protocol is standard, keep your distance and aim for their un-armoured weak points using their glacial speed to your advantage, personnel are highly advised to not engage in close quarters due to their excessive durability and rather lethal if slow blunt force smashes. It is massive. And I mean massive, so donโt even try it. ____ The Acolytes The Acolytes are a collective dedicated to the Dark Plane and the Anomalies for it. Joining, you will participate in the current active run as an Acolyte, hunting to kill all MERCS. You are not as powerful as your brethren before you, especially against trained MERCS. But if you wish to commit yourself to the Dark Plane (And also kill some time), this is how. If you join The Acolytes, you will not be able to be called in for reinforcement until you disband. If you disband The Acolytes, you will not be able to rejoin until the current run has ended. ____ Armored Variants Most anomalies (Except Ghost-Walker. As a plus, Rust-Walkers, Hell-Walkers and the Night Demon are already armored) have a Armored Variant, which gives them armor on certain parts of their body that completely negates damage from guns. They are all more dangerous as you will have to shoot specific parts (Unarmored) of their body in order to damage them. Although they might be more dangerous and threatening, they reward extra Credits and XP upon death, so it's always worth going after them. Armored Anomalies' appearance are identical to their normal counterparts, but their chest and arms are covered in red steel armor plates. The best way to counter them is by shooting their unarmored parts like head, legs and back. Explosives and melees are also very effective, as they can bypass armor. ____ Night Demon "A creature of the night. Forgotten, but not lost. Oozing crimson, it only wanted to bask in more and more, lost unto its own fantasy and delusions, until It arrived. It gave the beast salvation. Now subsumed, it is conjoined as one, ready to tear apart those who cross it amongst the darkness."
