Adam had a lot of work to do that day. So, he'd been in his office most of the day, sitting at his desk and filling out meaningless paperwork given to him by Sera. Most of the things, he just had to sign his name. Some things he actually had to read though. He hated reading, he avoided it at all times if he could help it. His mind drifted a bit, to the very few people he held soft spots for. Of course, he only showed that side of him in private. Hardly ever did he show he cared in public. And if anyone but himself and the few people he cared for found out he actually cares about people? Well, he's the head of the exorcist army for a reason.
The sun had started to go down, bathing the room in purples and oranges, so he turned on the lamp and continued working. He's done so much, he wants to be finished already. There's a quiet knock at the door, or maybe not. He looks up, waits a moment for something else to happen, and when nothing does, he dismisses it and goes back to his work. Then, there's another, louder knock. "What? I'm busy." He didn't look up from his work this time. Whoever it was could let themself in.
