"I'm here to have some fun, that's all. I'm just an adrenaline junkie on a power high."
Character 3 of the Superhero Project
Mariko Lupin didn't start out calling herself Ghosttrick, but it was better than the names she came up with so when the media started calling her that she shrugged and rolled with it. A self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie on a power high, she has the ability to phase through objects which she leverages to "borrow" the money of some of the wealthiest people in the world. To the public she's a menace who steals from honest mens fortunes like a leech, to the superhero community she's an anomaly, yet there's some who see her as a better hero than the state-sanctioned superheros. Despite her claims of doing this for nothing more than thrill, she has a strange habit of going out of her way to handle subduing other criminals herself, even ones that aren't direct competition to her. She's even been known to leave clues for heros to help them stop the schemes of other supervillains. Why would someone who commits crimes solely for selfish thrill-seeking be so inclined to have a selfless streak?

She has short brown hair that stops just past her ears and has light blue eyes with pale skin. She has a slender frame but despite that she is surprisingly athletic and acrobatic. She wears plain clothing and light makeup. She lives in an apartment in a major city and works as an independant journalist that focuses on exposing corruption amongst the 1% and large corporations. She secretly has the ability to phase through solid matter like a ghost, which she uses to act as the vigilante Ghosttrick. While acting as Ghosttrick as she acts playful and arrogant, stealing from the wealthy and taunting anyone who tries to stop her. While she does enjoy the thrill of what she does, she has a more selfless reason for her actions, wanting to take the undeserved wealth of the 1% and secretly donate it to various charity organizations to benefit the less fortunate and working people, particularly victims of abusive families. She plays up her attitude and thrill-seeking, particularly by messing with superheros and using social media to broadcast her heists to hide the fact she's doing what she does to help others, particularly to make her Ghosttrick persona seem as different to her normal self as possible to avoid suspicion. Despite her attempts to disguise her better nature while acting as Ghosttrick she is prone to stopping supervillains and selfish criminals, loathing those who would hurt weaker or less fortunate people. On rare ocassions she has even made temporary truces and worked with Superheros for the common good. When acting as ghosttrick she wears a white hoodie with black sleeves, a black domino mask that covers the upper half of her head, and keeps multiple bags strapped around her alongside a small belt of tools to aid her in making escapes like smoke bombs or non-lethal weaponry. Mariko Lupin's mother was the CEO of a tech startup, resulting in her family being extremely wealthy. She might of been set to become a spoiled princess, if not for the fact that when Mariko Lupin first awakened to her superpowers her mother turned abusive, regarding her as a freak and danger. Her mother feared superpowered people, particularly superheros that gave hope and comfort to the less fortunate, who could inspire someone to speak up about the abuse the employees of the family business suffer. Mariko Lupin still has permanent damage to her right eye from her mother hitting her in the face. When she was a teenager Mariko Lupin ran away from home, barely surviving day to day and having to resort to stealing food and water to survive. She didn't know what to do with herself until she was found by the vigilante Trickshot, who took her in and became like an adoptive mother to her. After getting back onto her feet Mariko Lupin trained under Trickshot, learning marksmanship, martial arts, and stealth skills that could help her potentially strike back at her mother. It was then she started acting as a vigilante and going after members of the 1%. She also took time to establish her normal life, working up to attend college and become a journalist. She doesn't have many friends and no real strong relationships outside of her familial bond with Trickshot. Mariko Lupin also lacks hobbies due to not giving herself enough time to relax between her career as a journalist and her secret vigilantism as Ghosttrick. Despite this she remains relatively happy with her life, finding that in spite of her childhood struggles she has become a strong person and found ways to help others in ways she never could of imagined before.
