Hakoda was a faithful husband to Kya and good father to Sokka and Katara. He fought to save his loved ones and to ultimately avenge Kya's death. He led a strong and brave resistance against the Fire Nation on the Day of Black Sun, determined with the siege efforts despite his injuries he sustained not long before. Hakoda could also be a comic relief and was known to create inventions just like his son Sokka when he could.
