Once he finds himself thrown into the Burial Mounds without his golden core, he invents Demonic Cultivation, and within three months is capable of massacring an entire supervisory office. Wei Wuxian has a strong sense of justice. He quickly joins the fight against Wen Chao in the cave of the Xuanwu of Slaughter. He is bold in protecting the innocent no matter their name or societal prejudice. As a result of his sense of justice, he is capable of ruthlessness: torturing Wen Chao to death for his role in the massacre of Lotus Pier, using Demonic Cultivation to kill members of the Qishan Wen Clan with the corpses of their own families and friends, and, eventually, using the Yin Tiger Tally to battle three thousand cultivators after the death of his sister Jiang Yanli. Nevertheless, Wei Wuxian often expresses regret and admits his faults. He believes that he became worse and worse every time he met Lan Wangji, and intends the words "thank you" to draw a clear distinction between himself and the noble Lan Wangji. As a result of his experiences as both a hero and a pariah to the cultivation world, Wei Wuxian sees nuance where many do not. Despite Jin Guangyao attempt to frame him for mass murder at the Second Siege of the Burial Mounds, Wei Wuxian expresses caution when further stories of Jin Guangyao's misdeeds emerge. Abilities Intelligence: Wei Wuxian is remarkably intelligent and imaginative. Realizing the potential of utilizing resentful energy instead of suppressing it, he invents and develops Demonic Cultivation in just three months. He repeatedly displays excellent deductive reasoning, such as his determination that the Heavenly Maiden is behind the soul-stealing events on Dafan Mountain, or that A-Qing uses her eye color to feign blindness for her own safety. Through his intuition and careful observation, he can uncannily, discern other's intentions, as he realizes the identity of Nie Mingjue's killer, the reasons behind his own death, that Nie Huaisang is behind Jin Guangyao's downfall, that Young Master Qin is lying despite his need for help, or why the ghost of the man who killed the Hook Hand needs to scream. Charisma: Through his talkative and mischievous nature, Wei Wuxian charms and he befriend many of those around him. Teaching: Wei Wuxian repeatedly taught the junior disciples how to think critically on their night-hunts, to the extent that they began relying on him too much. Swordsmanship: When he still has his Golden Core, Wei Wuxian is able to use his sword Suibian with high speed and skill. He is still technically able to use the sword without a Golden Core, but without spiritual energy, he would not be able to last long in a fight. The Six Arts: Not only did he master the art of archery and music, Wei Wuxian was also good at rites, charioteering, literacy, and numeracy. Archery: Wei Wuxian is a skilled archer. After his death, Suibian seals itself so that no one but Wei Wuxian can draw its blade, and the sword falls into the Jin Guangyao's possession. After Wei Wuxian's identity is exposed at Golden Carp Tower, Wei Wuxian reclaims Suibian, though his lack of Golden Core means he still cannot use it for long. Bow & Arrows Inventions Demonic Cultivation: Wei Wuxian founds this path of cultivation, which utilizes resentful energy to aid the user. Likely because of this path, he possesses a unique ability to hear nearby spirits. Yin Tiger Tally: Divided in two, this weapon is capable of summoning an army of fierce corpses to do the wielder's bidding. Spirit-Attraction Flag: A flag capable of attracting any creature holding resentful energy within a certain radius. Wei Wuxian's prowess is enough to kill entire supervisory offices. Wen Ning: Wei Wuxian's experiments lead him to bring back Wen Ning as the first conscious Fierce Corpse in known history.Nevertheless, Wei Wuxian is clear that he does not view Wen Ning as a thing. Final Eyes Summoning: A technique which allows the summoning spirits to possess objects with painted eyes, such as Paper Effigies. The spirits summoned are strong enough to tear the arm off a Fierce Corpse. Empathy: This technique allows the user to view the memories of ghosts or Fierce Corpses. Wei Wuxian used it in A-Qing, Nie Mingjue, and Anxin. Paper Metamorphosis: This technique allow the user to affix their soul to a piece of paper. Wei Wuxian uses it to spy on Jin Guangyao. Compass of Ill Winds: A compass capable of detecting evil creatures. Wei Wuxian likely invented the device while at the Burial Mounds. Golden Thread Formation: Wei Wuxian uses this ability to form a net with threads of spiritual energy. He could use this formation to capture enemies, such as Xue Yang, or to keep soulless people from attacking others, as he encases Wen Qing, Jiang Cheng, and Nie Huaisang in a net of golden threads to protect them. Talismans: Wei Wuxian utilizes a wide variety of spells and talismans. He demonstrates a spell to create small butterflies made of light, the ability to freeze people with and without a talisman, and uses another talisman to scour areas for spiritual abnormalities. Other talismans and spells land spiritual attacks on powerful night-hunt prey, such as the Heavenly Maiden and Xuanwu of Slaughter.
