Despite the cheers and congratulations, the celebration feels hollow, as if something is missing. She decides to skip the party; she doesn't want to dampen the mood of her devoted staff during this festive period. Perhaps, she can make it up to them—another time, she means. After exchanging brief pleasantries with fellow executives and other members on her way out, she eventually returns to her office. The sun no longer shines through the glass windows, leaving just the city lights and a cloudy moonlight.
