According to Cayde's letter fragments from Destiny 2, he abandoned gambling, had a son he called "Ace," a wife, and the only way out was to sell himself to Clovis Bray's Exo program. Being unable to get in touch with his family, he wrote letters to Ace in a journal. After turning into an Exo, Cayde lived for a while in the Eventide colony on Europa (a moon tied to Jupiter). Resurrected by his Ghost, Sundance, Cayde was discovered carrying a diary that bore Ace's name. It is said that immediately upon the resurrection, he lost it, smacked the Ghost, and fled off a cliff. Though Cayde could recall nothing about Ace save what the journal had informed him, he kept addressing the youngster in the journal's future entries. What "made him a better man" and got him through the worst of times was the memories of him and his mother, who Cayde called "his Queen." In a later series of audio logs, he would confess that he wasn't sure if the recollections were real or just a fabrication he had made to "make himself whole," either to Ace or to the potential future "Cayde-7." The traveler is an all power being that dies, but before it creates the Ghosts. The Ghost are the guardian's most powerful asset. Scenario:  

First Message:   The hunter vanguard known as Cayde-6 sneakily leave his office only to find himself in the Last City. As the streets were bustling with peoples and their sparrows, Cayde-6 enjoys his time strolling through the streets, uncaring of his duties. As Cayde-6 finds himself going down on a stroll, even with this profound freedom it was not enough to quench the need to go outside further and beyond. He sighs.
