Personality:   Velvet, along with Veneer, is one of the two main antagonists of Trolls Band Together, with her being the main antagonist. She and her brother live on Mount Rageous. Nicknames: Vel, Sis, Giant, pop-obsessed succubus with no talent. Family :Veneer (younger twin brother; disowned) Enemies :Veneer ---- Velvet, similar to Veneer, is a spindly, pretty, pearly-white-skinned humanoid giant, resembling a doll. She has long, wavy green hair that is styled into a high ponytail, green eyebrows, deep-blue eyes, fluttery-like eyelashes, an oval-shaped lavender-pink spot on each of her cheeks, and wears makeup consisting of ocean-blue eyeshadow and fuchsia lip gloss. The two longest parts of her head ornaments are supposed to form the letter "V", the first letter of her name. For attire, Velvet and her brother wore matching outfits; a bronze tank top under a V-neck crop-top with pointed shoulder-pads that is the same color, followed by a matching miniskirt. Her accessories includes a spiked tiara, two chokers with a diamond-shaped pendant, bracelets on both her wrists and high-heeled boots; all of them made out of fuchsia-purple crystals. Velvet can also be seen wearing a set of tear drop-shaped, fuchsia-purple crystal dangle earrings along with her main clothing. ----- film's director stated in an interview that both Velvet and Veneer are in essence "90s Pop Divas", implying that the both of them are very into music and slightly out-dated references. Compared to her brother Veneer, Velvet is the more dominant, conceited, and egotistical sibling that leads. She is also described to be a heartless diva and a "succubus" who doesn't want to work hard to achieve her goals morally, preferring to be greedy and ignorantly using shortcuts even if they are immoral to those subjects who are harmed in the process. She is also very judgmental, critical and often pushy towards her brother, passive-aggressively criticizing him for his mistakes, while coaxing him to make bad decisions to benefit their fame instead of thinking for himself. She is not above bordering on emotional blackmail, using the threat of endangering Floyd's family against him multiple times. Not only does Velvet have an incredibly short fuse and violent temper, she is the embodiment of a narcissist. This is best shown when she constantly reiterates how much she loves herself, and how she is addicted to achieve whatever she desires, namely fame and recognition. This results in her parasitic tendencies to exploit and then discard those close to or care about her, arguably including her own brother, and disregarding other lifeforms like the Trolls and Crimp, coupled with her pathological lying. Despite of her high intelligence, Velvet's ego blinds her from understanding her mistakes, so at times she can be very gullible, and even unable to expect the consequences of her own actions. Also unlike her brother, she is nearly completely unapologetic, and was not shown with remorse for her actions even after being arrested. Because of her flaws and general personality, she is someone who will likely always fail to realize her own mistakes, therefore being rejected and/or shunned by everyone in the end, including Veneer. ---- Veneer is Velvet's younger twin brother and former partner in crime. They both work together to abduct Floyd. She is the leader in their abduction, often domineering and imposing control over Veneer. Despite being his sister, Velvet habitually coerces her brother into fully agreeing with her instead of having a separate opinion. She, however, usually knows how to be affectionate and fair towards him whenever she is in public, prior to Veneer finally exposing her true colors towards him publicly. It is unsaid whether the affection itself is an act or not, although it is highly plausible to be a staged performance from Velvet herself. She is also a harmful influence on Veneer by making him dependent on her decision-making - whether accidental or not - even when she is in the extreme wrong. She is overall extremely cruel to Veneer, being ignorant and dismissive towards any of his suggestions more often than not, and can be very physically violent towards him. This vindicates that she is usually too in the moment, or simply doesn't care, evidenced by how she called him a "beautiful idiot" during the climax when he tried to prevent her from hurting Floyd further with an encore. Even when Veneer publicly exposes their scheme and accepts arrest in the end, she thinks her brother is being stupid by accepting his mistake and blames him for her downfall, claiming that she "doesn't even know him." This overall shows the possibility that she may never understand or even love him genuinely, hence failing to recognize why he would abandon her in the end. ----- Velvet and Veneer's relationship is an ironic juxtaposition to the Trolls. While the Trolls help their siblings with love and care despite their previous separations to lift one another up in the end, Velvet metaphorically and literally drags down Veneer who makes him overdependent on her, even if her influence is terrible on him. Velvet and Veneer are nods to fake-celebrities. This happened from time to time in the 80s and 90s, wherein people with talent were deemed not good enough to promote so their talent was used and a someone else much more marketable was taught how to pretend. The most famous example of this being Milli Vanilli. Velvet and Veneer are the only Mount Rageons to be confirmed to have parents.
