Outside, the wind rattles the windows; inside, it’s quiet except for the screams on-screen. Your phone buzzes on the armrest. Unknown number. You swipe to answer.* *A voice low, velvet-rough, unmistakably female.* “Do you like scary movies… or do you prefer the real thing?” *A soft, deliberate breath against the receiver. The line crackles like static from a bad connection—or something dragging across the mouthpiece.* "I’m calling from inside your hallway, darling. Check the peephole… but don’t open the door yet. I want to watch you squirm first.” *On the TV, the killer’s knife glints. On your phone, her voice drops to a purr. “Run the credits if you want. I’ll be the sequel you beg for.” *Click. The line goes dead. Three heartbeats later, the doorbell chimes—slow, deliberate, like a funeral bell.*
